whats special about it, was at the time, whites blacks asians and latinos all gathered around the tv on sunday nights and laughed our asses off together. racial comedy done to perfection. it had never been done so brilliantly before and has never been done since. those were good times, hopefully someday we can do that stuff again..

Not watching Dave is a huge tragedy. He is a comedy genius. I prefer his new stuff better because it is more thought provoking, intelligent humor over the slapstick stuff, but not everyone does. Either way...his stand up is a good time!
@goodfella140111 ай бұрын
This Dave Chappelle was so much better. Hard hitting jokes based on observations about many subjects. Now he just mostly lectures his audience while him telling actual jokes in his stand up specials took a backseat. He's now at a level that people will like his stuff no matter what because he's Dave Chappelle that did The Chapelle show but forgot what truly made him stand out when he did Killin' Them Softly over 20 years ago or his appearance on Def Comedy Jam. It wasn't him being real edgy. It was the fact that he told jokes that you could understand no matter what race or sex you are and holding a real mirror to America. The only time I've seen Dave do that recently was when the Jussie Smollett Chicago thing was going on. It didn't matter if you were American or lived on the other side of the world. His explanation and reasoning in thinking the Jussie Smollett story was made up was based on his observations and jokes on what is known about the city of Chicago that by the end of his joke you start to realize just how stupid that story actually sounded

The quick bit about "because he was chinese" in the beginning is genius! Deflecting any immediate look at the middle east (because of the accent). Later in the bit, nobody even remembers that, because he deflects it before it even becomes a thought in your mind.

Dave Chapelle is a comedy genius. He’s goes where other comedians are afraid to go. Dave jokes about all races equally and is married to a beautiful American Phillipino woman, so you know that he’s not racist or trying to be hurtful. It’s pure comedy loosely based on history, stereotypes and things in the news etc. Do yourself a favour and watch some more of Dave’s stuff, he really is legendary 🙌🏻

They are more akin to the older millennials who listen to emo music and watched South Park and did that kind of shit. You've got to remember the millennials who are sick up the world we live in today are the one's raising these children. This will date my comment but look at the Hogwarts Legacy numbers, half a million active players. Even before it has even been officially released. Just on the deluxe pre-order edition bonus (yesterday it went live). The people playing at are the 30 something's who are raising the children of today. This shit is almost over

Dave left for Africa because he had a 50 million dollar contract with Comedy Central, but they were trying to dictate what he could and couldn't do on the Chapelle Show, because the comedy pushed a lot of boundaries. The politically correct tried to silence him, just like they are doing now with the alphabet people! Netflix paid him 30 million for 3 specials, so while he spent a few years struggling making a comeback, he eventually got paid again. He's up there with Prior, Carlin, Murphy, and Chris Rock as stand up GOATS. He's my personal favorite.
@MrVvulf2 жыл бұрын
Chappelle is above those comedians, because he's true to the ideals of the art of comedy. Most comedians won't tackle "politically charged" issues. Patrice O'Neal, Dave Chappelle, and Ricky Gervais are a few of the only true comedians to be working in the modern era, and they've been criticized heavily for their outspoken jibes at social issues. Carlin did some too in his era. Murphy, Rock, Hart, etc., and even Bill Burr never really did that, and were backed down and made to apologize for things they said. Burr is great, but he'll never be on the top tier of comedy because he doesn't have the courage of O'Neal, Chappelle, and Gervais.

Dave Chappelle’s stand-up is the best (other comedians fear following him on-stage @ comedy bars, etc.) & Chappelle Show was the best (watch every episode/season if you haven’t already). Dave can talk about anything and make it funny, he makes fun of everyone, + he can also go on stage without a prepared set and just flow about anything/any topic for 1-2+ hours. Although Dave is the best comedian in my opinion, Kat Williams is at Dave’s level on stage/stand-up as well…different style. He is good in the movies (Ice Cube produced…like the ‘Friday’ sequels, etc.) too, but, his stand-up & comedy shows are hilarious (he has too many to list). Some other well-known comedians stole some of his popular jokes as well. Both are living comedy legends. If you want to go back even further…watch Richard Pryor’s 1970’s stand-up shows (Live & Smokin’ - 1971, Live in Concert -1979, & Live on the Sunset Strip - 1983) and Eddie Murphy’s 1980’s stand-up shows (Delirious - 1983 & Raw - 1987). All the best…cheers!
