The fact that the kakunos have smiley faces was one of the reasons that made me buy my first kakuno. Asides from the fact that lamy fountain pens are more expensive. I always liked cute things to make me smile.❤🎉

You can fit a con 70 converter to this pen and a Kaweco sport chrome clip to the cap.

It is my favorite affordable pen. Some people may be turned off by the all plastic construction but this plastic feels so good it’s just amazing.

Wish I saw this before ordering my Medium nib Kakuno! I should have gone for one of the finer ones; mine almost feels like writing with a sharpie fine point marker on some paper. Still a great first fountain pen. Thanks for the great video.

Mick- I absolutely love my inexpensive Kakuno pens. They are some of my best writing instruments.

I really love this pen, IMHO better than the Platinum Preppy which cracked. The nibs on both are of course equally good. If I had to suggest a beginner pen it would be Kakuno. Loved your vlog!

Love the video, man! I have a pilot metropolitan F and been using it for a couple of years now and was thinking of getting a Kakuno M, your review made my mind up. Also, beautiful Lamy Safary you have there! Love to see a review about them. Cheers.

when i first wanted a fountain pen, i bought a kakuno with the M nib unfortunately even that was way too fine for my liking and afterwards i got the lamy safari with the M nib. i still love and occasionally use my kakuno but the safari would be the one i use on a daily basis.

Nice review, I just bought all three to test which size nib is my preference and thought it more practical to have a longer test than the one given in the pen shops. They all write nice.

I love how the Kakuno Fine writes. Are there any none Pilot pens that write similarly in terms of of line wide and wetness?

i own a kakuno M for a few years i never really got into fountain pen until now. but for some reason mine seem to eat up ink so fast im not sure what i can do to slow the feed. it is becuase of the M nib ? or mine just damaged without me knowing.
@ZPD-doo-DAH2 жыл бұрын
I own many Kakuno pens and have never experienced that problem. Are you sure your feed and nib are properly secured within the housing section of the grip? Is it pushed in all the way? What kind of ink and paper are you using?

Try the fine nib.. Also check if u have some thread or fibres stuck on your nib.

Hello! Is the Pilot Kakuno Fine same as the Pilot Custom 823 Fine?

Mick, Can you fit a CON-70 to thos pen. If not which of the steel nib Pilot pens can?
@TheUndecidedFrog2 жыл бұрын
I routinely use a Con-70 in my Kakünos. They fit very well indeed.
@ZPD-doo-DAH2 жыл бұрын
Yes. It can fit a Con-40, Con-50, Con-70 and that squeeze converter that comes with the Pilot Metropolitan.

Anyone has any experience using shimmering inks in the Kakuno with a medium nib? I have a fine nib and shimmer is too much for it to handle. I'm considering a medium but would much prefer if it can handle shimmer better
@kokolexx2 жыл бұрын
what do you mean by it's too much to handle? the shimmer won't show?
@ym10up2 жыл бұрын
@@kokolexx won't flow. Most of my fine nibs get clogged with shimmering ink and won't write smoothly

Would you recommend kakuno or prera for adult writers preferring a light pen?
@theoffstageme Жыл бұрын
The Kakuno is a good pen if you want a light pen with a bit more size than the Prera. They have the same nib after all.

Is the EF too scratchy? Can it be fixed with micro mesh?
@ZPD-doo-DAH2 жыл бұрын
It's not scratchy. There is feedback, but that's to be expected with a fine nib. No need to fine tune the nib. If you don't like having any feedback, then just get a broader nib.

Hi! I’m new to the fountain pen world & I pretty recently got my first fountain pen. I went with the Lamy Safari & I’m enjoying it! I’m keen on trying out different pens & nib sizes & I’ve heard a lot of great stuff about the Kaküno. If you compare the Lamy Safari with the Kaküno, & would want to try out a finer nib than the Lamy, would you go for the Kaküno F or EF nib? Would love to hear from you!
@superwebster9449 Жыл бұрын
Hi! How is it going so far with your interest in fountain pens? I'm also just going to buy my first FP and judging from Mick's review, I'll go with Kakuno F nib! 😊 Open to hear how your FP hobby is going along after 11 months 🤗
@davidg.8745Ай бұрын
If you want a slightly finer line go with the fine. If you want a more noticeable difference, go with the extra fine. But remember, the finer you go the more scratchy/feedback you will get. Good Luck on your journey down this rabbit hole.

p.s. don't think there's an umlaut in Japanese language?
@theoffstageme Жыл бұрын
No, there isn’t. The two dots above the U dont act as an umlaut here… they make a smiley face. ü
