Guys, I always watch your videos but never comment but this one eh, hands down, has to be the best episode you have ever done. Both of you were on form especially Pastor Emma :-) I gained so much understanding in just these 30 mins and it was so relatable. I think as women nowadays inc myself, we're are so strong minded which is not necessarily a bad thing but we sometimes forgot our role in marriage and likewise men as well. Even after hearing preaching or words from our pastors, we have to go back to the bible and check the truth. Because pastors now preach from their opinion and what is going on in their life. One of the maladies in the church today is that people do not habitually study scriptures themselves and get accustomed to the Holy Spirit ( the author of God's inspired words )expounding His words in their hearts. In this age, people only follow church leaders verbatim and fall with them when they err. Celebrity pastors or otherwise, may have personal or cultural views and experiences that may color their interpretation of scriptures and that does not make them always right. The Bible is balanced and creates the total picture, making it the absolute truth. Your explanations are scriptural. The wife being a 'weaker vessel' in the Bible refers to physical parameters of strength and are confirmed by medical science. Normal average PCV ( blood levels) is higher in males than females, same as lung capacity, total body fluids etc. This calls for consideration and tenderness on the part of husbands not domineering. Interestingly, women typically demonstrate inner (mind) strength even in adverse situations. It's thus not a servant- master relationship. Of course, leadership, is given to the husband to steer the ship of the home according to scriptures. And it calls for accountability and responsibility. Leadership is not about reckless control or extorting respect. Permit me to add in the light of recent unfoldings, that a male or husband's physical aggression against naturally physically weaker female/ spouse is exploitative, demonic and evil. OhEmGees, remain paragons of faith. You're blessed.

Now I haven't seen the full video of Pastor Chris' preaching but from the excerpt you put up, I have a few things to say too. First of all, woman was always in the plan. Gen 1:27 says God created man and male and female created He them.. Male and Female!!!! This was before the Garden of Eden, I agree that the main reason why Eve was created was to help Adam. However, that is Eve not the whole generation of females. I would in my own opinion say that it was at this point a purpose(one of the many more to come) was given to a woman in the man's life. I'm not married oh and I am praying towards this vital part of my life so I know nothing about this but from my little understanding of God's word, this is my opinion. Thank you very much. In all, as christians, we need to understand the word of God intimately or personally not collectively. There 3 sides to this-Your side, his side and the truth itself. I'm not saying this cos I'm a woman. A man isn't a man until he's with a woman, I mean in marriage (if he wishes to be married) not playing boy/girlfriend and having sex o. The Bible describes it already...the responsibilities that comes with being a man and married. The man is the head or call it master, no disputing it.

Great point of view from you guys. I think that sermon was majorly the pastor's opinion and came from a place of pain. He has also preached about men loving their wives greatly in other videos. This particular video seems incomplete. Also we are not living according to the old testament but according to the new testament. The old testament is for knowledge.

I've missed y'all. Ready to hear your views on this topic. I first saw that video a few moments back and I remember being pissed. To me, it felt like he was addressing his wife (since the video is quite old). However, it's dangerous to project that narrative to thousands of women who attend your church. Many people take the words of their pastor as"fact" without thoroughly scrutinizing. Enough of putting women down abeg. I am not an afterthought. I am needed. God needed to create me. I add spice, flavor and purpose to this world. Men and women were made for each other.

I don't root for Pastor Chris on a personal level. But when I heard this message ,didn't know it was trending until later , I gave it a thumbs up on the platform and then some people came on me . My words to them is what I am saying here to. Your side is correct and his (Pastor Chris) side too. They are not mutually exclusive. Yetunde said we cannot look at life in one way and that is it. All you said is not contrary to what he said, just another side. That 30 mins video is not all about the bible said about marriage. And I am sure there is another message talking to men about their role in the home and towards women too. Everyone should listen again with open mind . There is absolutely nothing wrong with what he said if we are to take the biblical story of creation as fact. The woman was not created at the same time as the man according to the biblical account so as a result if we are to believe the biblical account of creation, the woman was not in the original plan. Someone in the comment section said if we say the woman is an after thought that means Jesus was an after thought. That is absolutely correct Jesus came as a solution to wipe out the sins of man so yes it wasn't in the original plan for Jesus to come. Let's stop pretending that we don't know the stance of Christianity when it comes to marriage. You can argue from another point of view and say a man and a woman in a marriage is equal and I will agree with you but if you are using the biblical account, sorry to tell you they are not when it comes to marriage. If you want to be a Christian be one and stop cherry picking what pleases you. Its not by force to be a christian in the world we live in. And God is a perfect God does not mean he doesn't change his mind. We were created in his likeness, I think people do not realise the meaning of that. When God stopped moses from reaching the promise land that was him changing his mind based on what moses had done. And being master does not mean you abuse your wife or try to lord over them at all times. A perfect example is the one you guys gave of Christ and the church which the bible gave. In the marriage context it basically means unconditional love to the point where you are willing to die for that person. And submitting in marriage does not mean servant. It means helper.

1. The message is for the married so the issue of how about unmarried people does not apply 2 The context is respecting your husband which is where He started from. Eph 5:33 3. The bible categorically states that "The woman is made for the man ". 1Cor 11:8-9 4. Jesus is our master and Lord but we are still joint-heirs with him .We serve Him but we are not his slaves .Your master can still be your friend and a brother. You can serve your husband , it does not make you slave. John 15:15 5. There is no Sex or Gender in the Spirit realm . Man and Woman is physiological not spiritual. 6. Woman came from man . In the beginning the female sex was present in the man. God brought her out later. That does not make her an after thought but God brought her out after the man. Gen 1:27- 28 In all, I did not hear anything unscriptural in the message . The issues we have in marriages these days is because both men and women are not staying in their roles. Maybe some people have issues with the message because the preacher is a divorcee. P.S. I am married for 13 blissful years, has a degree in Gender Studies thus a Feminist by training but The Bible is still the best blueprint for marriage if not seen thru the lens of socialism. I think Pastor Chris didn't do a great exegetical job on that scripture. I also agree that we shouldn't take pastor's word like a hypodemic needle. However, I understand the perspective he is speaking from, beyond his words. And I don't agree that men and women are equal, neither do I believe that one is beneath the other. I believe that Yahweh made each gender Unique. It's is an error when one is being compared to the other. If a man slaps a woman, it is violence, but if a woman slap a man, it is what? In a girls' school, some girls raped their gateman to death, yet there was no hullabaloo. When we say "rape" it is automatically assumed that men are guilty. I have never seen a pictoral illustration where men are being raped. Does it mean it doesn't happen? Each gender is just unique. Lastly bro, please let's hear ma'am Yetunde more, not for equality but for balance. You guys are lovely. We learn a lot from you. Cheers.
