Thank you. I struggle with our church singing so many songs from Elevation and Bethel. They tend to be so self-centered. When I'm at church, I want to sing praises and worship God and not sing about myself.

How is the preaching?
@BobbiMac08Ай бұрын
@telee19 The preaching is solid. I stay because, long story short, my husband has gotten deep onto the NAR through the "deliverance ministries" and an experience he believes he had with a demon. To go or look elsewhere might lead us into a worse position. I have spoken with our pastor about all of it, including the music. I'm not sure anything will change, though, as the worship leader loves those kinds of songs. I'm hesitant to reach out as I'm already dealing with the strain the "demon slayer" theology (or lack thereof)has put on my marriage.

@@BobbiMac08with all respect I have a hard time believing that the preaching doesn't match the theology of the music and that's not good as you know but I would encourage you to lead him through Scripture at home and converse about texts that refute the heresy of those men and women, watch the work Chris Rosebrough on fighting for the faith has done on these false teachers if you haven't already I hope and pray you can lead him away from those teachings
@BobbiMac08Ай бұрын
@jesseoutlaw4735 Thank you. I do believe our pastor's preaching is still solid, but I know how the NAR & WOF can creep in. I have watched many, many videos disputing the false teachers and have sent some to my husband. It's like he is in a cult and just can not see what we are talking about, sadly. He is very knowledgeable in the Word and quote books, chapters, and verses with ease. Everything he knows is twisted, just the way he's learned it from the false teachers. He served in the military and retired at the end of 2022. I believe he is using all of this as search for his identity outside of the military and his need to always have a mission.

Would love to hear a discussion on the theology of women’s roles in the worship and music ministry. I have a diverse denominational background and have participated in music ministry for years, always under leadership of at least a pastor. Based on a recent conversation, my directing a choir under the leadership of a Worship Pastor, a deacon board and a Senior pastor still has me out of alignment because there were men in the choir.
@richardtowne6771Ай бұрын
Really? You can't lead a choir?

I had to leave the church I was attending because they wouldn’t stop singing bethal and Hillsong music . Why would anyone Want to dishonor God that way with false churches and false teachers that leads people to hell and not to saving faith thru Christ .

This might be a long shot, but what Bible does Costi have here with the great blue gilt?
@jesseoutlaw4735Ай бұрын
I would guess ESV

It's an Allan NASB R1. Gonna guess it's the Silverline edition with the blue gilt instead of their classic red.

@@DeepDiveDiscipleship that’s what I was thinking as well. There certainly aren’t as many nice blue under silver’s out there other than a couple of Allans and Schuylers.

I went to a SG church in PA. It is a shame they have such an incredible music program yet sing some suspect songs in their services. I wish they'd stick to just Sovereign Grace songs, the psalms, and classic true hymns.

Yes and I did the same but the Shepard is suppose to protect his sheep , no matter what . We are to fear God not man and God doesn’t condone this type of worship .

Which of the musicians, worship leaders and songwriters are “false teachers?”
@richardtowne6771Ай бұрын
Here's a more focused observation; the clear implication of this discussion is "we are the only true Christian songwriters and worshipers, all others are heretics (and of course non-Reformed."
@kevinardon7604Ай бұрын
@@richardtowne6771 you must be trolling at this point because that implication was not anywhere in any of these videos. Regardless, the Word of God must be where our songs for congregational singing come from, not from anywhere else (Col. 3:16)

@@DeepDiveDiscipleship That is a qualification for opining on music.
@justinscott4980Ай бұрын
How so Richard? Must one be a chef to opine on food? -A politician to opine on politics?- A writer to opine on literature?An athlete to opine on sports? We have opinions about many things that effect us to one degree or another whether or not we are actively engaged in the endeavor. As a musician I am very aware of the frustrations of being critiqued by people who have no experience in the DOING of what they criticize but everyone gets to have opinions. Congregational singing effects the whole church. The whole church should be engaged in the endeavor......This discussion is about the biblical purposes and standards for our songs. NOT a discussion for musicians only but one for every believer.
@DeepDiveDiscipleshipАй бұрын
@richardtowne6771 Not really. Christian music requires a knowledge of the Bible to "opine" on plus he's talking to a crew of musicians, two of who are also pastors.
