Thank you for the continued lessons on using Deb Tuckers rulers. I laughed when you said you might want to rethink your quilt budget allocation after a convincing demo on cleaned out quilt fabric. Brilliant.

I find it easy to find inexpensive fabric (thrift store, old clothes, donations, etc), but my time is more limited. I also like my blocks to be well made. I like to keep my points and have my seams meet. That saves me time and frustration which are much more limited than fabric. I am all for spending money on Deb’s rulers, which I can use again and again and always help me get a good result. Outside of complete improve quilting, which is a whole different kind of fun, you can “Tuckerize” (Deb’s name for picking out the subunits) nearly any block.

Once again, an informative episode. When I look at quilts on Facebook now, I start searching for the basic blocks that make it up. And thanks to you, I'm building a Deb Tucker ruler collection.

I just bought a new pattern that had no techniques at all! Thanks for this advice. About 2 years ago, my first time watching your opinion, it was about taking inventory of the rulers you have because they may already have the features you need.

I haven’t purchased yardage for awhile. Friends have given me lots of good fabric to use for the charity tops I make.

I'm the recipient of lots of hand-me-down fabric and kits through my church craft group and Project Linus. But I still sometimes find a new project I cannot resist. I am so thankful to my mom for sharing her talent for quilting. What would I have done when I retired without quilting. Thank you for your channel. I like my Deb Tucker rulers and my quilters select.

I love my Accuquilt cutter and use the Mix and Match Qubes to do exactly what you do here… I find a block I like and break it down into units and then find the dies that make that unit. If I can’t make that exact block, I’ll shift things around until I can make something similar. I do a lot of that on my KZbin channel. Yes, AQ can be expensive but like you said… to each his own. I can afford it and it brings me SO MUCH joy it’s worth every penny to me. 😀 thanks for your always thoughtful videos!

I signed up for a retreat last week, not cheap! So I'm on a mission to sew from my stash for a charity project or work on the kits I've already bought instead of buying new. The jelly roll pattern I'm doing right now, bought it about 3 yrs ago. Also didn't make having to spend well over a hundred bucks over the weekend for a new walking foot. It was expensive but already worth every penny. I might never take it off my machine. Trying to spend wisely. Cute hair today!

Great video Maureen! I recently re-organized my sewing room and my stash. I had so much that I haven't looked at in years because I'm very guilty of buying fabric faster than I can sew it, and buying fabric with no plan for what I'm going to do with it. This exercise was almost like coming home from the quilt store with tons of new fabric, and I've pledged to myself that I will dip into those "oldies" and use them up instead of buying more. And the download is very helpful!

Thank you for the advise. I agree we buy impulsively. I said I needed to only buy my next project and always have a scrap quilt going to keep me going. I have so much fabric. I do not mind buying a new ruler if it has more than one use. I think I may be interested in Deb Tucker rulers as an investment.

I agree, it doesn't make sense to buy a ruler to use it once. That is why I like Deb's. There are multiple sizes and blocks to make from one ruler. I have also thought that guilds could have the specialty rulers we only use once in a while in a library, to take out like a book.

I had tendency to over buy fabric that now I think why. The 70s fabric is terrible, and I still would like to use it, but how? dog beds 😂 I don't regret the really good scissors and some few other tools. Fabric infatuation not true love, if it was love wouldn't I have used the stuff. Restraint is a good mantra when looking at fabric.
