Alternative abc-formula: x = -b / 2a PLUS/MINUS SQR( b² - 4.a.c ) / 2a Mind: x-coordinate of the top of the parabola: xtop = -b / 2a Discriminant D = b² - 4ac ( 2 solutions if positive, 1 solution if zero and no solutions if negative ) delta is the distance between xtop and x1,x2 : delta = SQR( D ) /2a Resulting in x = xtop PLUS/MINUS delta Which is logical because a parabola has symmetry on the vertical line through xtop
