Rhombus, Basic Introduction - Geometry

This geometry video tutorial provides a basic introduction into the rhombus. It explains how to calculate the area of a rhombus as well as the perimeter. It discusses the basic properties of a rhombus as it relates to parallelograms and quadrilaterals. A rhombus has all of the properties of a parallelogram. All four sides of a rhombus are equal and the diagonals bisect each other at right angles. The diagonals also bisect the angles as well. This video contains plenty of examples and practice problems on the rhombus. It also explains how to calculate the missing sides and missing angles in a rhombus.

In triangle BCE: because BCE is a right triangle, we can use the Pythagorean theorem: BE^2+CE^2=BC^2 BE is half of BD, which is 6, therefore BE is 3 Similarly, CE is 4 Solving gives BC = 5 By definition, a rhombus is a parallelogram which has it's neighboring side equal (a. k. a. all sides are equal) Because a rhombus is 4 sided, we multiply one side by 4 to get the perimeter, which is 20
