Butler takes it here, Farrell takes CC and BAFTA while Fraser takes SAG. Then, who knows what happens on Oscar night. So a little debate here for Director and Picture: I have only 2 situations here what can and probably will happen, agree or not: First situation: The Fabelmans wins Drama Picture, but Spielberg needs to win Director, but it's not necesserary (a rare situation was in 1991 when Bugsy won only Drama Pic above Silence of the Lambs). But here comes the second and my personal favourite situation: If the Daniels are winning Director, I'm gonna predict Elvis for Best Drama. The Elvis passion exists, Baz Luhrmann gets nominated for Director and Austin Butler is definetely winning Actor. Elvis is not like Bohemian Rhapsody, because Bohemian Rhapsody was a production desaster, got high PR by Queen, and conventionell told biopic. Elvis on the other side has a visionary on the director's chair, it has a deep critisizing message, the lead actor isn't imitating like Rami Malek. Top Gun Maverick and Avatar 2 winning, I don't think that's happening. Top Gun only got a song nom and Avatar was not strong for me to win either Picture or Director.

You have to consider that this isn't a normal Globes year, the voting body is twice the size and half international!! Anything that seems typical for the Globes or similar to a past decision should be taken with a grain of salt. This is why I don't see Top Gun winning picture - the movie is America to the core, so why should international voters care? And I can also really see Dolly de Leon taking Supporting Actress. There's gotta be at least one big surprise, and I think Globes voters would want to toss Triangle of Sadness something anyway.

Tbh, I don’t get why people act like actors haven’t won Oscar’s for poorly reviewed movies before. Meryl Streep (The Iron Lady), Angelina Jolie (Girl, Interrupted), Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye), Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody) etc. I wouldn’t count Fraser or Robbie out just yet.

SUPERB year for scores. Babylon's score, acting as the film's narrator, is next level; I think it has the edge. Desplat's scores always elevate the level of GDT films, and although it borrows a bit from The Shape of Water, he can't ever be counted out. Hildur Guðnadóttir is amazing too! On a related note, despite the strength of the field I cannot believe The Batman was overlooked in the GG's and even the Oscar short list.

I think my mind is changing to Top Gun for best picture. Think about how the preferential ballot works. Everything Everywhere will get a lot of number ones, so will Top Gun. But will the people who have Top Gun as number one have Everything Everywhere at 2 or 3? I wouldn't think so. However, will those who have Everything Everywhere at number one have Top Gun as a 2 or 3? I'd say yeah it's more likely. I think older voters with Top Gun as number one will likely have Fabelmans or Elvis in their top 3 and then younger voters with Everything Everywhere are likely to have Banshees or well, looking at the predicted nominees... Top Gun. I think Top Gun will have more 2 and 3 slots than Everything Everywhere, and that's what will win it best picture. I think older people are more likely to dislike EEAAO than young people are likely to dislike Top Gun.

I predict Elvis, Austin Butler. Although I really like The Fablemans, Spielberg. Top Gun was not my favorite movie. Aviator was technically a great movie. But a movie I would not need to see again. Blanchett is a great actress, but Margot Robbie is a rising actress.

After 12 Years a Slave, only Nomadland won Golden Globe, Bafta and Oscars for Best Film. The Oscars have not been rewarding the film with momentum, defying even statistics with Parasite and CODA. I think it is not that safe for EEAAO at the Oscars, but the competition is not The Fabelmans, it's Tar and Banshees.
