17 years ago, I was really focusing on movements like parkour and tricking, I was ok, but I starting watching other folks posture and really wanted to optimize mine. After a couple months of focus people started telling me I looked more confident (despite not actually being confident emotionally). Don't underestimate the nonverbal communication of good posture and movement.

I am four years into trying to do this on my own. This is the most accurate description of what I have learned over that time that I have ever heard. I have been looking for a guide like this, and even moreso looking for some professional guidance for what I am trying to do - correct and balance my posture / muscular development. Huge thank you, love your vids, love your work!

Man, this is the most accurate checklist and explanation how to rework your posture ive ever seen! Been struggling with my posture since the early childhood, studied a lot of sources over the decades and this video just completely stands out! Your personal results are really inspiring too! This vid has to be viral IMO. Just a huge thanks! Got instasub'd!

Thanks for the kind words! Virality is probably not going to happen at this point, but glad you found it helpful.

yeah man most advice on the internet are for people who already have well functioning bodies. I started my posture journey around a year ago and before that I was following generic advice of shoulders down and back and face pulls. I didnt see any progress with my fitness because my body was so jacked up (misaligned, unbalanced and weak that I couldnt use my muscles but my joints.) your videos has helped me but the pieces together and I found some unorthodox solutions to fix my posture problems.

thank you! with those tips i think i'm comfortable sitting straight for the first time of my life!! just with tucking my cheeks?? that's so cool it's such a simple change (not so cool that people keep telling you to sit straight your whole life but won't tell you how to make it feel good)

I'm going to have my work cut out for me. 30+ years of playing the violin coupled with a lot of time spent sitting in front of a computer or using my smartphone has seriously messed up my posture.

Ookay, as a guy who has (mild) scoliosis but still have a "rib hump" this is gonna be waaaay harder than what I'd like to hear (just streghten and stretch and you'll be fine), I am guilty of looking through most of the videos you listed, and surprise surprise, none of them really work. Neck is tilted to left side, right shoulder sits lower, always favouring resting my head on my right hand while sitting, even though in a seated and standing position my left shoulder sits higher. I am absolutely vonfident this is what lead me to have chronic shoulder inflammation and knee problems on the right side. So basically considering that, the "side view" should be pictures and videos on both the left and the right profile, which means adjustments would be different depending on which side I need to correct. Meaning if the keypoints are aligned on one side profile, in my case that wouldn't mean they're aligned on the other side, and would also not mean that I'm not tilting my neck from the front view. So having said all that, I still find it motivational that there's actually a possibility of improvement. It's just gonna be hard as hell and time consuming. Which is only to be expected, since I've built these habits over the course of now 30 years. I am for sure interested in the book that is to come. Thank you for providing, even though not an easy one, a solution that worked for you and all the people you trained. Because for sure mindlessly stretching and streghtening exercise, be it pull ups, side planks, dead hangs, standing against a wall for 10 minutes and etc did nothing for me. God bless you.

awesome video man! most of society needs to watch this. Whenever I've gone to PT for these kinds of things I'm pretty much met with the same attitude, which is that if I wasn't in pain I didn't have a real problem. The standards of our medical practitioners is literally not to be healthy but just not completely fucked up, which is pretty fucked up. With that being said, I've been doing many of the things you mentioned in this video intuitively for a while, but I'm struggling with a couple things that maybe could be a future video idea (or maybe u address them in the ebook, which I'll definitely get!) whenever I'm in the right posture, I feel the wrong muscle groups taking over, especially the abs, and I don't even know how my abs got so unbalanced bc it's not the easiest muscle to unilaterally bias. also I feel it's actually harder for me to breathe in the right posture, like my body so used to bad posture that I breathe better there. Any suggestions? thanks in advance, keep up the great work!

Conscious mewing and nose breathing helped a lot with my posture. Many people (including me) habitually mouth breathe. Breathing through my nose with the tongue properly on the roof of my mouth improved my posture. Posture and nose-breathing are connected, if you have a real bad case of shrimp neck, you may actually need to work on fixing your posutre before you can comfortably breathe through your nose 24/7 because your neck position is literally blocking the back of your airway.

I've found this is true, you have to change your habits and hold it correctly all the time, that's the most important thing, one time during a long car trip I forced myself to hold perfect sitting posture the entire time (18+ hours) and it was massively correcting in my posture endurance the next day and felt effortless until I eventually let the habit slip just out of sheer laziness and not fatigue. But training the KB walk while trying to walk with exaggerated posture was practically useful and made it feel easier normally also a thoracic extension and balancing your pushing and pulling exercises can be helpful if you're a bodybuilder. 99% of all the other exercises recommended are useless though.
@masculinityproject31834 ай бұрын
A big offender of those videos is Conor Harris, he posts a million different posture videos with different exercises for the same problem that will help you at most 1%. They only care about views.

This is great and I have also been trying to find more on this subject. That being said, having been trying to improve my posture for the past 4 years or so, I have noticed it have become an background obsession that I can’t really turn off. Sometimes I miss being in my body without thinking about how my body exists in space or think about what micro adjustments I can do. Overall I would recommend but it is not without its downsides in my experience.

Hey. I have a congenital limb deficiency - a lack of hand/forearm on my left side. I'm 38 and just startimg to really understand how much this has effected my whole body posture. I know you said posture correctors should be forgotten, but high usage of my left elbow over 38 years has made my posture very lopsided. Wonderimg if you think in this case, starting with a posture corrector would help? I'm almost always unevenly hunched forward toward my left side as even when not being used, my left arm just hangs uncomfortably, too short to rest on anything.
@TheoTanchak20 күн бұрын
This is a difficult question to answer. If you use the posture corrector to teach yourself to stand well, and support the position well, yourself. Then it can be helpful. But if you rely on it, and lean into it, then it can be detrimental. I would say you need to learn to rest with your spine straight. If you'r constantly leaning left, your spine is likely bending left.

What if you have one leg 1.5cm longer and can't have even hips etc? Should you wear a small lift in one shoe?
@عبدالحكيم-ذ6ن4 ай бұрын
I agree about what is "good" posture when it comes to the profile view (meaning having everything stacked on each other and heels back), however, I heavily disagree about the front view (having everything at the same level). Human beings, when sitting, will always be on one side and when we move, we rotate ; when walknig, we go from sitting on the right leg to the left back and forth. There's no point of being in the middle at all time, rather we ought to be more on the right side at all time when resting (look at how kids move, sit and sleep or how people with "good" posture do these things).
@عبدالحكيم-ذ6ن4 ай бұрын
Also don't ever start flexing your glutes just like that, you'll create stains and fatigue. That's not how muscles are designed to be activated ; they are to be in a chain of muscles and not one by one

You shouldn't say they're lying. That's dishonest from your part. Just make your video without taking shots. Actually, some of the videos you showed have helped me with my posture. I like the video besides saying "they're" lying. Because what they show can help some people.

It'd probably be more correct to say 'they're ignorant/misinformed'. Lying does sometimes imply malice, and I suspect they're more than likely just incompetent.
