My favorite things about camping are stormy cool weather, wild life, no music, no sounds of traffic, things like that along with the aroma of a pine forest ! I have seen bears and deer within 10 yards of me. The most beautiful experience I ever had was when I walked up on a full grown mountain lion that was near my station wagon. I froze ! I was barely even breathing. His head was a little higher than the hood of my car. He was 3-4 feet from me. He stood there staring at me for about a minute and a half, then turned and walked into the woods.

Ah, to see rain! Out here on the west coast (Sacramento), it has not rained here in a looong time. NC looks wonderful. I also had a back injury. Bad fall, broke my T11 and T12 vertebra. They filled one with epoxy, but that was all they could do. I DO take fairly-heavy pain meds (Norco). Been doing that for over 10 years, and it has enabled me to live a mostly-normal life. Don't worry about strong meds --- as long as you don't over do them, they are a blessing (I limit myself to no more than two - 10/325 pills a day). Everything has its proper place. Happy Trails from Sactown.....

Look at the Kelty Noah's Tarp. It has some advantages over all the others, not to mention a stuff sack that is large enough to easily get the tarp, plus ridge-line and stakes in the bad without giving yourself a hernia. If you set up on the diagonal, with a diamond or shovel type pitch, it is absolutely the best.
@stillnocouch2 жыл бұрын
I only started using a tarp a couple of years ago. Try it! Start with a cheap one from Home Depot or somewhere. It won’t be as secure in high winds, but just to play with at first. Helps keeping your stuff dry and in the summer, you have shade and can keep your tent from baking all day. A tarp is easier to hose off than a tent! 😊
