This is wonderful teamwork and brings back memories when I built mine first one and it popped out 2x as I had not allowed for pond to lift but did learn and provided a drain after the viaskos. Now I have added others to it but it is a hobby and I stay home a lot more. Richard in Australia no ice here!

Very important lesson I learned today, NEVER put the pump at the bottom of the pond. We recently installed a pond last weekend and this morning it was completely empty of water and my fish were laying on the bottom with no water flapping!! I guess something happened and my water got redirected and started pumping out of the pond. I refilled it and luckily my fish are still alive and swimming normally. So the lesson learned is suspend the pump just a few inches in the water in case this happens it can’t empty the pond.

That's actually really good advice. The odds of that happening are slim, but taking your advice would earn a pond builder a notch on their _Preparedness Badge._

Fine job and good to work with help and company. I had to do it on my own and am hooked on it but have 3 ponds with a waterfall and small connecting water run to circulate and now I am at the end stage. Wish I could show You but I need good weather and more plants yet.

I tried this, l can tell you it is not as easy as it looks here :) l did it but it took me about 35 hours. And it looks good. Still have to put the plants though.Thanks!
@johnw65uk4 ай бұрын
I did this took me about 3 weekends on back breaking work, especially when you discover an old path right where you intend the pond to be. Recommend testing the area first with some steel rods.

A pond is a lot of work that nobody told me about...they turn green on hot days, waterfalls leak, raccoons eat the fish....it was fun for a couple years, then I removed it all...sometimes I miss it but I get over that feeling quickly.

Yea. I'd hit limestone at 6 inches. Would need a crowbar or a jackhammer to dig a hole like that.

I have an old pro installed liner pond. 2 levels for fall. One of our issues, and it is going on today, is a heavy rain will cause water to lift the liner (and it previously lifted a cast pond, as you have) This pushes water out of pond and when liner is let down pond is near m/t. Too many leaks over years and deciding how to leave something behind of a water feature. I am now at a 900 gal pond. Kind of sick of it now that I am old.🦇

Try a good Garden Display Area or over ebay. Pumps are sep. most of the time but think well and do not go too small.

This looks brilliant for wildlife ponds, cos of the shallow edge. Is this s UK buy? Cos I cannot find many on the internet and certainly nothing like this one. The sides have pockets for planting so that they don't fall in. Terrific.

Every video that involves digging shows this magical, dark, non-compacted, loose, stoneless, loamy soil. These videos are taken in a land where shovels inch down into the ground with minimal effort by an always sweatless wielder and, with minimal effort up comes a crumbly soil, happy to comply with human command. Some say that Antarctica is the heavily guarded entrance to The Garden of Eden. Is that where these videos are taken? I ask because whenever _I_ dig I need a jackhammer, a full week and a contrite prayer. Not cool KZbin...not cool.

@SylviaAlcatrazz8 жыл бұрын
+Mary Larrison You could use a more rigid shape like a square or rectangle pre formed pond, to have up above ground you would need to make a support frame to house it. Getting the pond then fabricating a wooden frame around to make it look like a wooden box always looks nice, use light wood slats for the outside panels and use good strong wood as support beams when making the frame. Then give it a nice wood treatment before filling the pond, make sure its completely cured/set and then fill your pond and decorate.
