This has become my favorite painting channel. There are tons of people showing off their crazy skill that I can't possibly match until I've got years of experience and brush control, and I don't find it very helpful. This channel uses basic techniques done well and it's something that gives a fantastic table top finish and you always show how to take it to that next level for those who want to go further. I Like this video , I have been steadily keeping mine with a army look and doing the shoulders or face plates with the black and checkers. This is very helpful tho for more information and ideas to enhance what Im already doing thanks!

I'm buying the Kill Team intro box soon and will want to give the orks a simple painting. My initial thought had been to do a green base coat and paint over it, but a lot of the videos I see do a black or white basecoat, then paint skin. Is a green base coat a viable option, or is it better to do a different color, then paint the skin separately?

Yes probably - can't see any issues with it although as with black, you will need a good few layers to build colour up and most contrast paints won't work very well - so you'd be going for more of a traditional style than this video demos

@@ThePaintingCoach Interesting. If I can pick your brain a bit further, what is the difference between base coating with white v black? It seems like black is the go to for most models, but I really like how your model turned out with the white base coat.

Generally white will give you a brighter finish - the key difference when you look at the way I have painted this is the type of paint. The majority of the base coats I used are contrast paints which are semi-transparent, so need to go over a light undercoat otherwise you don't get the colour you need. If you are using traditional style paints e.g. base, wash, layer etc then you can go with a darker base if you want

Thanks! It will be okish - for the black I might use black legion - or spray black then paint the panels you want yellow with corax white the wraithbone. Or if you can leave them off and spray separately

What I don’t like about painting Orks, is when everyone paints almost perfect black and white checkered squares on the armor. How many straight lines do you see in their creations? It should be as sloppy as they eat.
