It was very apparent that WH+ was scrambling to hide its lack of content. I think the lowest point was when they were drip feeding us The Exodite barely 10 mins a week. It is nice to have confirmation that they knew it. The Kitbash'd show idea is brilliant and I would have watched the shit out of shows like that. It would have been quite fun to see the games workshop people having fun competing and being creative. Might have reversed the whole narrative around WH+, but then again they'dve risked showing us ya'll's personalities and faces Emperor forbid.

Never watched BattleStar Galactica first or second time around but it is on my list to watch and I have a detachment to build for Xenos Rampant and some Isengard minis may have be winging their way to me to build up and paint. 1:13 The issue with that scene in stars is you have to understand what's going on to appreciate it and they don't really get across what's going on. You see from our frame of reference it looks slow. But as both ships were Constantly Accelerating! That chase was actually the fastest chase in star wars! See in space when you constantly accelerate you just keep getting faster. This is why the escape via small shuttle is genius. As soon as they are out of range and the bad guys realize they would have had to spend time slowing down. Obviously that plan doesn't work. But also it puts into context just how devetatingbthat hyperspace ram was. They were accelerating so long then hit something travellers the opposite direction at light or near lightspeed. When you understand the context the scene is pretty amazing. But folk were confused over why the bombers "dropped" the bombs and actually wondered in comment on KZbin why wind was blowing BB8 backwards in that boost scene... Iean you expect proper critisms when folk don't understand basic physics... No
@kudosbudo Жыл бұрын
I would suggest if you have trouble understanding to watch the expanse series or read the books. They do really go into detail about space combat and distances etc which would help to xplain why the star wars chase is fast despite appearing slow. The expanse does a much better job of explaining what's going on.

One of the other traits often used to differentiate Low and High fantasy is the prevalance and utility of magic. In Conan, for example, magic is very hard to do and only a handful of people can do it and it always takes big long ceremonies and rituals. In D&D, you still need to have the right talent or heritage but magic is pretty much just "point finger and say die" and it happens. LOTR splits the difference on this - the people who can do magic basically just do it, but you need to be some sort of more-than-human to pull off spellcasting at all, so it's not a perfect dividing line, but "easy and common magic" is still a common trope in High Fantasy. With this element in play, Star Wars is definitely high fantasy - there are space wizards all over the place - and I think 40K probably is, too, with the psychers. Also: Nathan Filion of Firefly fame is an Alberta boy who went to college here in Edmonton. When the movie came out, those of us who were hardcore Firefly fans of course went to see it, and we brought along some other friends who hadn't watched the tv show. They largely enjoyed it, but one fellow who had actually gone to college with Mr. Filion said he just couldn't get into it. Apparently the actor Nathan is not that different from the character Mal, and my friend kept just seeing his old classmate instead of submerging into the narrative.

Correction: Low fantasy is things like LotR and D&D while High fantasy is Steve entering Charlize Theron

Interesting take on the High Fantasy vs Low Fantasy. I'd always been told that High Fantasy was Age of Sigmar and 40k, where powers are rife, even some basic humans can sumon lightning or the like, and AoS it seems everyone is magical in some way. And then Low Fantasy is the like of Lord of the Rings and Game of Throne, where there are trolls and dragons, but overall there is little to no-one with powers and even those with powers can only do a small amount with them.
@editor2766 Жыл бұрын
Lord of the Rings is the original High Fantasy, actually! Due to its big good vs evil theme
@iJasko Жыл бұрын
@@editor2766 There are varying definitions of low vs high fantasy. More classic storytelling considers "epic, good vs evil" settings as high fantasy and more gritty, "everyone's basically a shade of bad and/or battles the own daemons" as low fantasy. In that sense LOTR is high fantasy. Then there's the more roleplaying view, which is what Emerald Phoenix said. In that sense LOTR is indeed low fantasy. In the GW-cosmos: WHFB is low fantasy, AOS is high fantasy. There's no universal, official definition unfortunately.
