Demonetisation happened in India 8th November, 2016 and not 10 yrs ago. And the PM's Jan Dhan Account Scheme for zero balance accounts was launched on 28th August 2014. Approximately 260 million additional bank accounts had been opened when demonetisation was announced.

@@dodiraj1 I did. But I guess you didn’t! He said demonize over a period of time ( raat ke 8 baje) And sorry! I don’t buy this argument that people would have taken bad advantage if the government had done it over a period of time because of a government is strong enough to envisage such schemes then it is also strong enough to enforce it! As for taking advantage, I personally know many who got their monies exchanged only because they had the right contacts. PS - Inique ID scheme was launched by previous government and I remember, at that time, opposition (you know who) was against it tooth and nail… but this scheme came in real handy when they came to power! What an irony!

@@Critic224 no need to bug others. just watch it again and again until you get the connection between bank accts in 2014 & demonetization in 2016 on one side; and what was said in the podcast on the other side. Jan-Dhan accts laid the ground for digital India, which in turn was accelerated by demonetization and later by Covid. As for people with right contacts who managed to exchange hoarded cash, PM Modi castigated those responsible loud and clear. A whole community of professional 'right contacts' also had their wings clipped somewhat later.

1. Your guest failed to point out that Pakistan has not allowed some already opened LCs to be honored, it has not paid several foreign airlines for services already delivered, it has not paid IPPs for electricity already consumed. All these are operational creditors rather than financial creditors. Pakistan has ALREADY defaulted to them since they have NOT agreed to roll the debt over unlike China, Saudis or UAE. So Pakistan HAS defaulted. 2. Kya karenge port leke? Clearly your guest is completely clueless about geopolitics. It is part of their string of pearls strategy to encircle India. The same reason that they took the Hambantota port from Sri Lanka. Their submarines and naval ships will dock there.

I disagree and maybe the speaker living in dillusion. Humbantota port in Sri Lanka has been leased off to China for 99 years. So, technically, it is not being bought, but it has been given to them like forever. Second, they will develop it not for commercial purposes rather for military purposes. So, stop thinking just from your 'economic' perspective.

Petrol subsidy strategy was explained by your deputy finance minister and it seemed reasonable. 1. Petrol subsidy is linked to the NIC card of eligible people. 2. Each eligible person would be able to buy upto 10 liters of subsidized petrol in a month. But only 2 liters at a time. By capping liters available for subsidy at a time as well as in a month, you will minimize likelihood that person does not sell the petrol in open market since they actually need that much petrol for their own personal use. 3. The argument that a land cruiser owner will get more subsidy than scooter owners is flawed for 2 reasons. Land cruiser owner would not be eligible for subsidy and in any case total liters of subsidized petrol is only 10 liters per month. 4. The argument put forward that demand would expand at a lower price only holds true IF scooters and smaller cars got unlimited subsidized petrol. With subsidized petrol capped at 10 liters per month, the subsidy will not promote demand. If I know this as an Indian woman interested in Pak economy and your expert doesn't, it shows you his level of expertise. When he casually asked what will China do with Pakistsni port, he is clearly unaware of what they did to Sri Lanka's Hambantota port. They want to use it for Chinese navy for encircling India as part of string of pearls strategy. Finally your guest talked about 3 types of loans in the context of default. But there is one more kind of loan repayment which is called operational credit. Money owed by Pakistsn to foreign airlines for service already rendered, to IPPs for electricity already consumed, to exporters whose goods have reached Pak shore but their LCs are not being retired, the Chinese company digging Thar coal who hasn't been paid. Pakistan has already defaulted on operational credit. Your guest may be familiar with financial concepts but he is seriously deficient in operational knowledge needed to qualify as an expert. Very disappointed. Much lower standard than your usual guests.

Pakistan invested in China's pet projects in spite of its limited financial resources, with the belief that these projects would generate revenue for the country. However, these projects only benefited China. For instance, the Orange Line in Lahore was built at a cost of $58 million USD per km in 2015, while the Mauritius metro rail also opened in 2019, which was developed by India, and cost $18.5 million USD per km. India provided a line of credit without interest, while China provided a loan with a commercial interest rate. This decision-making process has been biased, particularly given India's status as a perceived rival in Pakistan.

Russians defeated Nazis and were the true winners of WWII which left Americans very insecure. 2. PAK was not a great project as US never wanted to push India to Russia n face big asian block in communist camp. 3. Upon total commitment of over ambitious Jinnnah n Brits support US agreed for base camp PAK to monitor communists as over wise Indians Congress was not expected to agree on many things Germany n Japan behaved so got support. PAK could have been like Korea n Singapore of today but your leaders lost their mind n attacked India and wanted to make nukes which drove Americans to nuts. Totally disagree with the price control on food and vegetable point. If you do your research you will find a huge difference between the price of the product given to the famer and the price at which its sold in mandi after adding transport cost. Basically all the margin is taken over by the middle man where his margin is ridiculously high. Thus bringing in the need for price control.

Please dont give false information about returns on treasury bills. Also understand tax plays an important part, if your annual investment in t bills is over 25m you will be taxed under NTR. It can drop your after tax yield to 16%. And on money market funds, this guy Amar is giving wrong info, your entry price , front load % , exit load, sales load and ending nav all play a part, you probably get at max 15-16% with reinvestment. + about Capacity charges, since he is a energy guy he will never comment on the wrong miscalculated aspect of these transactions how on earth can u grow at 6% when these were being launched. and As far as distribution losses and theft is concerned 15% , the same is the case in UK also (10 to 12%) .+ even his comments on GDP consumption is vague, normally 60% is all consumption in a GDP, the rest is investment ( which is where debt needs to go) , govt spending and net exports. Improve ur concepts before giving false info.

Most important thing is work together. A good leader in Pakistan would make a difference. Every Pakistani talks il of Modi for being “anti -Muslim” without carefully studying what has he done in India? How incorrect and foolish statement is this? Modi’s slogan has been, “ Sab Ka Sath sab Ka Vikas”. Don’t you understand simple Hindi? In 2002, when Gujarat riots took place, 0are you aware what happened? Certainly “no”. A group of “Muslim Gundas planned and locked and burnt two bogies full of Hindu pilgrims coming back from Ayodhya. It is in a country where Hindus are in majority. Imagine what could be the reaction? Riots started in Gujarat. If ten Muslims were killed 4 Hindus were also killed. Anyway had Modi as Chief Minister of the state tried to stop it immediately ? The reaction would have been flaring up the riots throughout the country. He deliberately waited for a day and a half and gave a signal to the Hindus that the government is taking side with Hindus though it was not a fact. In fact Modi should be awarded Nobel prize for peace for that single decision he took as Chief Minister of the state.

And India offered to bear the expense of the whole pipeline and offered Pakistan to trade Gas via this pipeline. It was a win-win for all countries Pakistan got ready-made infra, India got gas access to central Asia. Tajikstan got 3 new customer (Afg, pak & India) But guess what. Pakistan refused the offer. Now you guys are suffering from gas shortages. but India is paying high price and still importing gas.
