Don't worry, much like how most of his teeth are actually secret capsules with tiny utilities inside (like tiny cornish game hen dinners), his thumb and pinkie are both outfitted with special mechanical joints so he can easily pull of soldier's ol' 'escape from the handcuffs by dislocating your thumb' trick.

In a lore sense, Spy knowing Karate could be rather interesting. Like when stripped of all other options and handheld weapons, he still knows how to improvise with some martial arts tactics. A true sneaky assassin who knows how to get the kill with virtually anything or any tactics he can think of, kinda like in the comics how he was able to quickly kill a prison inmate using nothing but the inmate's own toothbrush when they were about to sneak up on him eating a miniature Cornish game hen

Well, Valve managed to make Spy unable to instakill Giant Robots in MVM and instead deals set damage depending on the level of Armor Penetration upgrade (or lack thereof), so this custom melee might be similarly restricted with only a percentage-based back-hit but increased knockback for Armor Penetration.

@@TheCommenterSam Agreed. Spy's knife based backstabs already instantly kills all medium to small robots. If anything, this may be more of a hinderance in MvM due to it knocking robots around the map similar to Pyro's Airblast or Heavy's Knockback Rage. That said it should still keep crits on kill and health on kill as well as attack speed upgrade options obviously. Maybe make a unique upgrade that marks them for death when hit (from any side) for big bots to give spy more use in MvM like scout with the sandman "Marked for Death" upgrade or the Fan-O-War or maybe just a 400$-500$ upgrade that increases the damage on or two ticks so you can 1 shot small robots. Sadly, if it has knockback mechanic it should probably also have a knockback upgrade as well so you can possibly kill bots from cratering or launch them away from the bomb hatch maybe or a "Knockback from all sides" upgrade that lets you use the knockback kick so long as you are crouching or something even from the front so that the knockback isn't just bumping stuff up towards the bomb hatch.

You could add a dash skill. Dash: Press right click. Move the user at a distance in the direction of the user's movement. Cooldown 10 seconds. Every melee hit reduce cooldown by 1 second. Every melee kill reduce cooldown by 4 seconds.

this weapon is very interesting, it let's you have the aggressiveness of the kunai but makes the spy not as annoying to fight since he's closer to a power class it reminds me of era warfare's version of spy

I can see the backkick being really nice paired with the higher movespeed. Spy is already fast, so being even faster makes him a speed demon. Backstabs may not kill, but your enemies are good as dead when flung at 1% hp into your team.

It doesn't make sense for the hit to be delayed and for the range to be shorter, considering heavy basically does this same thing with his fists. I could see the balance reason for making the range shorter, but the hit being delayed could cause player frustration with how unpredictable melee hit registration already is. Cool concept but too many down sides for what is basically a close range Natascha.

This is undeniably not useful in any way, shape or form, you would most of the time get kills by fall damage if you kicked them near a ledge, or an assist by kicking them near your team, but jesus christ I wanna try it anyways, because a character going through a warzone with nothing but karate is cool, dammit, I don't care that it is just the force of nature but for spy.
