Hey PAPA! It's my first time on your Site and am richly rewarded by your dedicated Craftsmanship. I couldn't help but reflect on my Grandfather who also was a skilled Craftsman like you. He amassed many Blue Ribbons for his Art from the Oregon State Fair back in the 50's and 60's. Archie Wilkinson was a WWI Veteran who lived in White City OR. MUCH of his "works" are in our various homes as Family Heirlooms which we are proud to have. (which I'm sure you have many as well). Blessings... to You and Yours !! !! (Archie's works were segmented Plywood inventions ~~ very crafty ART. !! !! )

Thank you so much. By all means try it. You can use any thickness for the layers but the thinner the more dramatic the look. For staring out you could try an easier version maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. That would be a good practice piece. I think the ones I did here were 3/16 thick. So much thinner for sure. Best of luck and feel free to ask any questions you might have. Gary

I watch lathe turning videos mainly to reconfirm how untalented I am. This dizzy bowl was not only spectacular in execution and outcome, but the planning and thought processes, getting it all down on paper before the first piece is chopped highlights your attention to detail...as well as patience. I get tired of waiting sometimes and something fails due to my lack of discipline. Thank you for a beautiful dizzy bowl. And thank you for sharing your amazing work. Keep 'em coming!

Thank you Christopher for all your comments. I really appreciate them. I have one rule when making this type of a turning. I never let myself get rushed. Or at least I try not to. But I spent my years working as a wood pattern maker sometimes building a project that would take over 2 months. I do this for fun so I can spend all the time I want. What I do is turn a few other turnings in the process of making one of these. Lot of glue up time lets me do that. I am happy you like my video and thanks for watching. Take care, Gary

Thank you I am happy you liked it. Yes I think Purple Heart would have looked nice. I have lots of it now so next time I will try and fit some in. It is a lot harder than some of the other woods but can be done. Thanks for watching and commenting. Gary

Hello again. I'm sure your viewers, would love to see you do a video, on how your bandsaw is set up, when you resaw. It's amazing how you are able to resaw such thickness, without any blade drift. Great work!

Thank you Shelia I did do a video showing the sled and how it works. This shows how it works but not a step by step build. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYKaiXape9Wea7s&ab_channel=ThePapa1947 Thanks for watching, Gary

@@ThePapa1947 It's an awesome video, on the sled setup, but I was wondering if you ever did a video, on the actual band saw setup for re-sawing. I hope I am not being a pest. Thanks a million!

Your six year bowl looks out of this world stunning, the wood colours are so complementary and as ever the shine is brilliant, overall I love it well done. Take care and stay safe.
