I _just_ noticed the laser pointer rig you use to show where the cutter is when you're doing the internal turning. _VERY_ slick idea!

I only just learnt abut this recently as well. How it works is that you set the laser how ever thick you want your wall to be away from the tip of the tool. So when that laser falls of the vase, you know that you have reached the desired wall thickness. Pretty ingenious to me!!

That's a brilliant idea. I thought it was for getting the thickness right, but when I was thinking laser range-finding and computerised distance calculations, it was the obvious answer of having the pointer adjusted to be offset from your cutting head. Brilliant!

Not only are you a talented designer of both form and pattern, bringing 2D into 3D with élan (hope that's the right word!), but you are a skilled turner with appropriately high standards in both production and finishing. You know how to use wood in innovative ways, and you produce and use finishes which elevate the beauty of the wood to a refined level.
