5. Wow. one and a husband plus cleanup and pets is enough for me.

Can you do a video on this same topic but for older kids? My almost 10 year old still is very dependent on me to play with her. I’ve always struggled with getting her to play independently. Thanks! 🤍

The dried beans one is absolutely genius. My toddler has been driving me insane today and we actually had some dried beans in the pantry. He loves it!

Not a good idea I’d say if they put it in their mouth….be aware of

@Nearco1000 I forgot I posted this but he didn't put them in his mouth. He threw them all over our yard and we had beans growing everywhere 😅

This was soooooo helpful and the examples of what to actually try. The things I have I would’ve thought he would love but not really so much and not for long

My 15 months old daughter loves sensory play but she also tries to put things in mouth, this stops me to give her any such things like uncooked beans or rice etc.

When you say “little” toddler, which age are you starting from? I have an 18 month old and while she’d love the beans and rice she’d really just eat them and I’m concerned about choking. I’d love to do the sand tray but I’m worried about the mess and her eating it.

Why did you change your channel name? The Parenting Junkie was a great name! I found your channel in a blog and I couldn't find it cause the name changed. This new name is confusing. Glad you're making these videos. Exactly what I'm looking for!

raw beans, lentils, sand, rice and kinetic sand will go straight to the mouth if unsupervised, infact i have to watch them like a hawk to do this. it is impractical

Depends on the child's age and their personal tendencies. My little one would probably be able to play with certain small objects, because she's quite good at no longer wanting to put everything in her mouth all the time. Like pebbles and things won't necessarily go straight to the mouth. But of course you'll still have to be in the general area to supervise because sometimes they can still go to the mouth. It happens.

@@rozannew i thought the suggestions were aimed at toddlers. I don't know a toddler that wouldn't put one seed in their mouth just to taste, immediately they know you are distracted

It is an opportunity to teach them not to put it in thier mouth. When I kept telling my toddler not to, I eventually did have to tell him anymore

They won’t choke on a dry bean or rice. You can make edible play dough. They won’t it much if it’s super salty. You can make your own kinetic sand with oil, sand and cornstarch. They might try some but they won’t like it.

I have a fear of wasting food. I know my toddler would love playing with beans and rice etc. But I just feel it's too much waste. If only there are out of date foods we could find

Dried beans can we washed and still cooked. I gave my toddler a bin with a bags' worth of black beans in it after watching this video. It's kept him occupied for days now, and I still fully intend to eat them eventually.
