Definitely glad you made this since ive had a few people ask me sbout getting TTs or other audi / european cars. I live in the US and parts here are attrociously expensive. The story goes I got another TT this summer after my first one got toalted. It was 5.4k and ive at least put 3k on my time and brining it into the shop, not to mention another 1.6k recently for axle and cv boot repairs. This is after sourcing parts off my old one too. Taillights, sensors, trim etc. They are wonderful cars and after replacing the old rusted out front parts and old hoses shes peppy and smooth but by God is there more work. The rear subframe and suspension need to be replaced, 80% of the hoses still need to be replaced with solicone ones and paint / rust i havnt even touched. And im up in the salt belt. Im lucky its not on any major parts yet. My other one had it bubling under the rear windshield. But im lookin easily another 5k or more. Which ive accepted ill tank. Shes my first car ive really been able to dive in deep with and take apart mod etc. So it means a lot if i can save her and make it a good nice daily. Good video as always man love your TT stuff always superb.

I agree on all points you gave out Dom and people should be aware of how pricey things get quickly. Just a note tho, not everything will be urgent and for someone this could be a whole year resolution for the car depending on salary and how often you take it out. It's a difficult one. If you love the car, sentiment value is always gonna be higher than actual value with these TTs. Mine, I do love enough to have spent waaaaay over her actual value keeping her on the road, turned into a resto-mod that I will never sell (and financially speaking would never be worth selling). But she's a lovely Green Roadster Quattro, I'm the second owner from new and she still turns heads. More importantly she turns my head, every time I park her I have to turn back to give her a loving stare before closing the garage, and that's what owning a car should be about right?

In fairness it's an old car now. Mine is a 2003. Most of the repairs you've listed I've had done over a 3 year period. The brake discs you condemned have been sitting for a good while, once driven they will clean up enough to pass an MOT. the headlights with a good polish will probably also pass an MOT. Of course you're correct in what you are saying but you're condensing all these repairs to be done at once before it's driven. A good video but the story of that vehicle is not as bad as you paint in my humble opinion.

While I agree not all works need to be compensated immediately most do and while it’s all possible I’m trying to demonstrate to the less technical people to do their research when buying a car. Not just one that looks nice. Every car can be saved at a cost, more often than not at a cost greater than a cars value. I regularly speak with new tt owners who have bought what they thought was a great car but has lots of issues some easier to spot than others unfortunately

I am currently saving a 2004 3.2. I am already at $7400. I had the chains and guides replaced. I had the clutch pack in the DSG replaced and sent the mechatronics unit to England for a rebuild. New tires and new brakes all the way around. It already had new control arms, axles, shocks and struts. I still need to address some clunking in the suspension and some paint work. Here in the U.S Audi TTs are gaining value quickly.

@@TheParrottBros I'm old school and love the MK1. The funny thing is I purchased the car as a temporary in between car but its really got under my skin. I've had several faster sports cars but this one puts a smile on my face the sound from the exhaust the way it looks etc...Contrary to what people say they handle really well with a few suspension mods. The TTS has a stage 2 map and is running 350bhp the only hardware is a sports cat downpipe and intake, mapped by R-tech. I would argue the measuring stick is whether the unibody is rusted or not. If the unibody is straight and has no rust, I would save the car. That is the US view of the TT. The amount of rust on UK cars I see on KZbin is mind blowing. I don't understand how so much rust can happen. We salt our roads in winter here also, but none of my cars look like the one in this video and my cars are just as old.
@TheParrottBros
@TheParrottBros Күн бұрын
With Us prices this car would be worth saving but at present in uk it’s not. Rust is mad here, no matter how hard you try it gets there eventually. I think the road surface doesn’t help. Lots of stone ships and rock damage doesn’t help matters.

This is an epic video bro kudos. (All of yours are great but this for a potential buyer is amazing. Wish I'd seen this before I got mine lol, though mine was in reasonably good condition luckily. Its getting hella rusty underneath though now after a few years of ownership. Can you wax oil over the top of surface rust or is this just gonna seal it in and it'll continue to get worse? Wanna try and halt the rusting that's there before I have the time and money to get it looking spanking.
@TheParrottBros
@TheParrottBros 4 сағат бұрын
@@banksy444 thanks that is greatly appreciated, if you take a look back through my videos there is a Rust converter and under sealing video, depending on which brand you go for some can be sprayed directly onto rust and will halt any further rust.
