It takes some getting used to as its an old Dsg so its not super quick like the newer ones. But it is the ultimate cruiser... Always helps if its running and on the road

My spanner in the works... black magic powdercoated is my go too... not carbon and not got the need to keep polished, so the different easy maintenance option. Had the discussion with Wayne today while I robbed his old shell of a boot floor..😅

I think it’s carbon fibre for me, but only in the right spots. The exhaust is my favourite thing on Wayne’s, sounds spot on. Would definitely like more information on the map, mine is supposed to have one on from REVO but that’s well old and I’d like to get it brushed up at some point.

Polished for me, I like the OEM+. The one thing I love about Wayne’s car the most is the remap. Sounds like a worth while thing to do 👍🏼

Thanks mate yes its certainly worth doing even if just do dsg box massive difference and its using less fuel now so running 26.7mpg combined at moment i was at around 24 mpg befor box and engine tune:)

If anyone is having problems with rattling. Go to a hardware store and buy those "foam furniture protectors" shaped like circles with a glue-peel back. And glue it to the metal hatch part making sure that the plastic liner of the back-hatch door touches it to muffle out the sound.

Oddly enough I had my slam panel off this weekend too, but only as I was replacing a dodgy fan, drilling a snapped bolt out & fitting a wellycooler 😅 Great watch as usual Dom - my alternator is still playing up a bit (after changing the pulley) so I think I'm going to swap the regulator too, but that's definitely a lot easier on a 225 than a 3.6!

It's a job I need to do, my battery doesn't die but its sluggish in the morning, batteries been replaced, checked for drain. It's the alternator regulator that fails, easy to change once you've removed it and alot cheaper than replacing the alternator. Cheers Dom.👍

100% mate, but my alternator bracket was damaged and i do a lot of long trips so bit the bullet and bought a new one for piece of mind :)

I had to replace my alternator around 3 months back, at 90k miles on the clock ...I had the red battery light coming on and off...got the charging performance checked and was hovering around 11.8 . After looking at the space available around it, I paid a VAG guy to tackle it with a new aux belt..haha

I couldn't let it go and since fallen in love with it, so it's on my drive back in Derbyshire! Attempting to get it back on the road again. Succeeding with thanks to yours and Andy's videos. I hope to drive back to Burnham in the TT one day. It's a truly lovely place.

Hey mate, well yes its not a fun job and i wouldnt rush to do it again thats for sure haha. The 3.2 bar normal maintenance is pretty straight as it goes. far more simple than the mk1

Done this job twice on my 3.2, attacking from the top is definitely the best method. Probably pulled the front slampanel close to ten times now so can do it with my eyes closed 🤣 3.2 life… Also that ac compressor bolt is ridiculous, encountered the exact same situation this summer… Ps you don’t have to pull the lights, you can leave them attached to the slampanel = less body lines adjustment pain when the job is done 😉

I like to have them out the way and have the adjustments set to a fine art as replaced them so many times hahaha, know what you mean though i can have a tt in bits in like 20 mins flat
