Some small ideas…. The tour girl’s English is very good with her warm attitude and her great knowledge about the tours and the S Vietnamese foods …..(so far) are very accurate! It is SAFER with a guide like her than ANYONE standing around on the streets or at the bus stations! Is pretty right at any time and in any country in the world! Advice: Check with the TOURIST OFFICES in the cities! The guide can be a college student…English major (I think ) working as a tour girl….just to make some extra income for her school expenses and for her family! To our Tourists: Bon Voyage and THANKS for VISITING our beautiful country, VIỆT NAM! Good Luck and enjoy as much as you can, “ our US travelers! Giáo Già (Old teacher)

What a unique experience spending the day at the floating market! Girrrrl I couldn’t believe you said yes to “fermented shrimp”, but better to try than to wonder! I thought it was the coolest experience that they pulled up to your boat and gave you a boat table! It was also super fascinating to see rice noodles be made. Hi! I'm visiting Vietnam next week. Curious to know if y'all had any stomach issues from eating herbs. I know food safety was a warning in regards to herbs/greens being washed with the water there. How did y'all fair?
@ThePassportCouple
@ThePassportCouple 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Anna - This is a great question. We ate the herbs, the food, everything, because the food in Vietnam is so incredible. Our stomachs were up and down in Vietnam, just like many countries we have visited, but it was never enough that we had to stay home or anything like that (but everybody is different). As a precautionary measure, we always carry Imodium with us and have what's called a Z-Pack which is just prescription grade antibiotics that you can get from your doctor before you travel. There are also products like Travelan that are supposed to help, though we haven't ever used it. You can buy it on Amazon (pretty expensive and sometimes out of stock) or at a place called Passport Health which requires an appointment. Hope this helps and we hope you love your trip to Vietnam, it is an amazing country 🧳✈️🇻🇳💛

@ThePassportCouple
@ThePassportCouple 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lisa 👋 Sometimes, yes, but nothing so bad that we've had to stay home or anything like that. For the most part, if you are in an area with tourists, many of the stalls, and restaurants use purified water to cook and have their ice delivered. If you are concerned, or have doubts, you can always ask them, or just ask for things without ice. They are very kind and understanding of this. We also always carry Imodium with us and have what's called a Z-Pack which is just prescription grade antibiotics. We have rarely, if ever had to use these, but they are good precautionary measures. Hope this helps 🙌

You are going to love it, it is such an amazing country 🇻🇳💛 We booked our tour with Thy, one of the owners at Green Village Mekong. We paid right around $30 USD per person for the tour ($60 USD total), but we also took a private tour since we were filming this video. I think group tours are about $25 USD per person. We also wrote a blog post detailing our costs for traveling to Vietnam for one month: thepassportcouple.com/1-month-in-vietnam-cost/ . We hope this helps and that you have a great trip to Vietnam ✈️🇻🇳💛

Your guys are braver than me. I wouldn't dare to drive a scooter on a road trip in Vietnam. I barely drove around my country side. And I 'm Vietnamese live away from my native land. Great job!!! 👍

You’re not eating the shrimp paste probably so it tasted strong and salty. Tour lady should show how to eat it.

Your Mekong River guide was great...'cept she didn't stop you from putting the shrimp paste into your mouth like that. OMG! I was side-eyeing her the whole time waiting for her to jump in and stop you. LOL! Typically you'd take a little amount and stir it into your bowl so it's diluted. It's never eaten straight up like that. Once you learn to love it, then you can eat it with bun dau mam tom (the one where there's tofu and other stuff that you dip into the shrimp paste sauce that contains kumquat, sugar, oil, etc.). Westerners who've learned to eat mam tom (shrimp paste) eventually fall in love with bun dau mam tom...even though that's still too hardcore for most Viets. Hahaha!

She was awesome 👏 And I promise, it is not her fault. She did tell us how to eat it properly, but we were having a bit too much fun and got a little to brave 😂 Now you have us wanting to try it with bun dau mam tom 🍤 Thanks for sharing 🙌

For Vietnamese sauces, they're meant to be mixed in with soups, and not to be eaten raw. It's all too concentrated to be eaten raw, and most Vietnamese don't.

That is a great recommendation and I think we will need something like that when we do the Ha Giang loop next year. Need to learn to drive manual too 🏍🇻🇳🏔We did have to fill up with gas a lot so the extra fuel will be great. Thanks for sharing 🙌
