I love the term “survivor’s compassion.” I never understood why people have survivor’s guilt. My surviving my breast cancer or dying from it doesn’t affect other people who had a breast cancer. As for your being less worthy of surviving than someone with kids, our society tells women, in so many ways both subtle and obvious, that our worth is in our being mothers. Nope. Of course it’s very sad if children are left motherless by cancer, but it’s equally sad when anyone else dies of cancer. And always worth celebrating survival of everyone who was diagnosed and is still alive. I wish you everything good.

I lost my husband to colon cancer in March of 2016. He was diagnosed in August of 2014. I. just wanted you to know that not all cancer journeys end in pain. During Mike's journey, he experienced NO PAIN at all! He never took any pain medicine. I hope you have beaten the odds and remember that everyone's cancer battle is different. Don't spend your time worrying about a pain that may never come. Sending you positive thoughts.

Her CEA was 9 at the beginning. But threwout the first couple of years it got as high as 35. Been in the 2 to 3 range for the past couple of years. She had a stroke which caused them to and hemoglobin was high so she was bleeding internally so they did a colonoscopy and found it

My wife recently hot diagnosed with Stage 4 colong cancer. It has metastased to her liver( 3 lesions found, 2 are 1.7 cms each and 1 is 5 cm. A primary tumor has been found on her left breast. 6 months back docs admitted her for complicated diverticulitis and delayed colonscopy twice as her pain would not go. Only after she got high fever recently they admitted her in Emergency and subsequently after scans they said she has cancer. Please pray for her as she starts this long ardous journey to beat this disease.

I’m going to explain something that may not be obvious to most of the people, even to doctors. During the PET scan, patients receive small dose of radioactive glucose. This lights up cancer cells all over the body. Why not other fluid and why not other solutions like saline? It’s because glucose is directly pulled inside the cancer cells. In the normal situation glucose is delivered to healthy cells with help from insulin. Cancer cells pull glucose directly from blood without help of insulin. Cancer cells are like a sponge and there is no mechanism that would control how much of glucose enters cancer cells. The primary reason glucose is pulled inside a cancerous cells is because it is their fuel. Cancer cells have mutated mitochondria that do not respond to oxygen anymore but instead they ferment glucose. This is a key element. Glucose allows cancer cells to divide and grow. Our bodies convert things like pasta, rice, potatoes, bread into glucose. In fact all carbohydrates are converted to glucose, including vegetables and fruits. Animal protein like red meat are converted to glucose depending on our needs and there is not enough glucose to go around to sustain cancer cells. This is science and it is frustrating that medical field knows about glucose & cancer cells connection, yet it is widely ignored. After all PET scan uses glucose because it enters cancer cells!

You have to have glucose to live it’s unavoidable! I’m a type one diabetic and I still have to have some sugar or you die
@talktomenowxbmc
@talktomenowxbmc 11 ай бұрын
@@jenniferbowie2773 it is true that human body requires glucose however it is blatant lie that we are required to eat sugar in order to live. Human body makes glucose through process called neoglucogenesis (in liver) and it uses various elements including protein to maintain certain level of glucose that deems to be appropriate and necessary. The level of glucose is regulated internally and it depends on our needs. The problem for our bodies is food that we eat that turns into glucose and this is where insulin steps in. However most of excess of glucose is converted into fat (triglicerides) or its is removed with urine. I do not eat any carbs and I can assure you that my body maintains fairly constant level of glucose. I even tested my blood glucose before meals and after meals every 15-20 minutes. The blood glucose levels never increased higher then 10 points. I'm alive and I did not die because I did not eat pizza, rice, bread etc.

Thank you for posting this. I am a colon cancer survivor and just passed my 5 year milestone. I ended up getting diagnosed Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome from having survivors guilt. It was such a real thing being 70 at the time and just Stage 1. I couldn’t understand why I was spared and so many young people haven’t lived their lives yet. It also made me lose any religious faith I might have had.

@ritazwicker3426 I'm just the opposite. If it were not for my great faith, love, trust and prayers to my Lord Jesus, I could have easily lost my mind. My only daughter died within 8 months after being diagnosed with a rare and aggressive Ovarian cancer. She had two MAJOR surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, blood transfusions, etc. Nothing could stop it. She was a nurse and her little girl was almost 5 when she passed away. That was 7 years ago. A year after her passing, I learned that I had gallbladder cancer, stage 3b and in 3 lymph nodes. Treatment? I got the works and a heinous surgery. By the end of my treatment, a PET scan showed that I had breast cancer, stage 1. Back to the drawing board. I developed mild PTSD but I never blamed my Lord for everything that had happened. I was 65 when it started and my daughter was only 43 when she passed away. My daughter also kept her faith the entire time. My granddaughter is 12 now and is the love of my life. God has been so good to us and has been there every step of the way. I will see my sweet girl again in Heaven one day. It was just her time to go. Please let go of any bitterness and sadness. The Adversary will use it against you and make you miserable. God still has a plan for your life. That's why you are still here. Jesus loves you and He wants to be your Lord and Savior. Ask Him into your heart and life. He won't disappoint you. God bless you. I will pray for you.

@@Ceerads I respect and appreciate your comment. And, you’re right. I can’t accurately say that. I merely wanted her to know that I think she’s handling herself extremely well. I knew a wonderful woman, an incredible teacher, mother, wife, friend, etc. She had breast cancer and beat it, for a while. I was living in Israel and put a prayer in the Western Wall for her. Ultimately, she passed away. I was distraught. I pray that you stay a survivor.

I have another doctor, but I know the drill they would’ve tried to talk me into it once I’m there and then I would’ve been stuck. So I had my doctor set me up with another hospital and doctors and I told them right from the start. That radiation wasn’t part of my plan so if that’s what they wanted to do then I have to go elsewhere and so it wasn’t. And they did surgery and chemo , the chemo was first and then the surgery I just finished that and I have my final CT scan in September so we shall see

Although I did not have symptoms - I knew something was wrong. I had a bout of food poisoning which coincidently mimicked and ticked all the boxes for CC. To my surprise...the fit test came back highly elevated e.g. 200 although there was no visible blood in my stools. Colonoscopy was booked within a few days ...and I knew from the images it was Cancer. Staging scan and colonography followed. Under an amazing surgeon at UCLH ...and will be having a hemicoloctomy via robotic laposcopic method.

So treatment then became chemo which I didn't want to do . Radiation is precise it does not destroy good cells. Chemo is systemic which mens it touchs every part of your body. Only side effect I had from radiation was a little tiredness and some skin darking which he gave me cream for. Chemo made me anemic, nauseous, cold. When in the summer your ac is on 76 and your your under 3 blankets something is wrong lol. Also dropped 55lbs the first month. Give me radiation over chemo any day! Good luck. Fight the fight!!

I think the type of cancer you have dictates how often you see the surgical oncologist. I had BC and see her twice per year. Starting seeing her in 2014 and was diagnosed in 2019. Because my sister died of BC, my primary doctor wanted me to be under the care of a surgical oncologist. Before cancer, I was seeing her twice per year and after cancer twice per year. A bit more after surgery and then back on schedule. Now, because I didn't do conventional treatment, I only saw oncologist maybe three times. Several before surgery and once after.
