Between 2015-2016, the 49ers' fanbase paid an anti-Jed York banner to fly over Levi's stadium. Shortly after that, Jed hired John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan to run the football operations. Say what you want about Jed, but he listens to the fans and we can see he has matured.

I also remember the plane, lol, flying around with a banner that said, fire jed York. Then Jed came on the news and said that he's the owner and can't be fired, lol. I think the DeBartalo family owned the 49ers but Eddie DeBartalo ran it during they hey day. Their family were developers and would open casinos and such and he got caught up "greasing the wheels" of some politician to speed up the permitting for a Riverboat Casino in like Missouri or something. Jed York was the BEST thing that happened to the 9ers. We were screaming for the Yorks to sell the team and after they gave him the reigns: 1. New stadium* (even if it is in Santa Clara) 2. Hired Coach Harbaugh, with Kaepernick taking over from Alex Smith 3. Hired Shanahan/Lynch, and gave them the tools to shine. Jed doesn’t get enough credit because he sits back out of the limelight with the team’s success, but I remember when his parents were running (ruining) the team and putting Jed in front was the smartest football decision the Yorks made.

yeah...he also had his goofs as well. you left those out. 1) Hired a GM in Balke who would then manipulate him in a power struggle with the HC. 2) fired HC who took you to the super bowl 3) spent the next 4) years one and done coaches creating a complete bottom feeder roster of " talent " No coach wanted this job when Kyle took it, even Kyle didn't want it because at that point 9ers was a dumpster fire, created by Jed. That's why Kyle's first contract was 6 years and extremely costly to make sure if Jed one an doned him, it would hurt the pockets. Give him something to think about before doing it. I give Jed credit in that he learned, got good people in his building and let them do their jobs.

As a long time Niner fan, York is my age, he grew up with Eddie D and all those Super Bowl rings. He always wanted to just win the SB. So he got a lot of a flack early in his tenure as owner. From the Alex Smith over Rodgers, the Singletary hiring, to the Harbaugh tenure, he was always in the mix. But he eventually learned to trust his GM and head coach to take the reigns. He's now looked at as one of the best owners in the league by his fan base, we just need to seal the deal with one more win.

If they had moved him to the top of the depth chart and thrown him in week 1, would he have performed or drowned under the pressure like so many other rookie QB's have done in the past? He may have struggled the opening game or two and team leadership may have thought, "Well, maybe he isn't the guy" and dropped him too soon. Even just those extra few weeks on the bench practicing against one of the best D's in the league would've helped him immensely in getting used to the speed of the NFL if nothing else and coming in as an injury replacement rather than being promoted OVER the other guys comes with a little less pressure to perform immediately. Of course perform immediately is what he did.

Shanahan recognized Purdy was their best QB in week 1 of training camp. Purdy's first game was week 7, 2022 on the last drive, and York made a sarcastic comment about Brock's play. It wasn't until week 13 against the Dolphins that the legend Purdy began. So 13 weeks after training camp is really when York didn't even know what Shanahan already knew in week 1 of training camp. My point? Let people who know how to do their job do their job.

The Niners as a whole have been a class act. Fred Warner has been on record saying when Purdy became the starter after Lance went down saying Brock would dice their defense up and that Brock would be just fine. CMC even said he picked up most of the plays quick because Purdy was helping him out. A rookie was literally helping an all world back pick up the plays. He was tough on Bill Walsh at times but many players loved working for him. Eddie took care of his players. Eddie ran into some legal issues and had to divest from Ownership. Jed watched what his Uncle did and was asked to take over things at a young age. Being a Niner fan my whole life and watching from the outside I think Jed has handled this as well as anyone could. York tried to be the Jerry Jones type CEO during the Harbaugh years but since then and since Shanny he's been much more in the background.

As a 49ers fan for 40 years, yes, I knew exactly what Jed York looks and sounds like. And we watched Jim Harbaugh try and badmouth this guy and blame him for the complete s-strom he left this team in. And now we know the problem was, indeed, Jim Harbaugh. So, good luck, Chargers. You're gonna need it!

I give a lot of credit to Jed for his growth as an owner. He did act entitled and wasn’t a good owner from the jump. He learned from his mistakes and finally found a team of football people to run that side very well. He took a step back from speaking in public about things and lets the football people run the show. Now he’s become a very good owner. His ability to learn and adjust has changed Niners fans view of him. Good job Jed.

The opposite of what Tomlin did. He knew Mason Rudolph was the best QB on the roster, yet he gave Titty Kisser Trubisky and Tiny Hands Pickett chance after chance before he finally gave in.

Jed York learned his lesson with Jim Harbaugh leaving… They tried hiring Chip Kelly, and then promoted Tomaula, but those were sad times for Niners. Kaepernick was booted, and there was a rebuild with Lynch and Shanahan. I haven’t heard Jed York’s name for almost 9 years, and that’s a good thing. Get out of the way and let football guys make football decisions.

The Faithful have known Jed since his Uncle Eddie would drag his butt through the locker rooms in the late 80's. He's been a fixture around the Marie DeBartolo complex for decades. The Niners have had all this success in recent years and you guys didn't even know what he looked like? That's hilarious. Go Niners.

Having Eddie DiBartolo in your ear is a huge benefit. He was the architect of the Bill Walsh era 49ers. I hated Jed when he fired Harbaugh, but I think he has grown a lot since then and I respect him now. Maybe he was a good CEO then, too, but I was too upset with Harbaugh's firing to see it. Glad I can be a 49er fan again since he hired Lynch and Shanahan.

Jed started off rough with the Niners, clashed a lot with Harbaugh in the early years, and a lot of fans were upset with him because they felt like he ruined a really great team with a great coach. He interfered a ton back then. We went through a lot of bad coaches and a terrible roster, but all credit in the world to Jed York. He hired Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch, gave them a ton of support through some really tough years, stayed out of the limelight, and let them build a fantastic culture. The fact that people don't know who he is shows that he subscribes to the same mentality the Niners have shown throughout the Shanahan years: no individual is more important than the team, and you only win when you put your egos aside, stay unselfish, and do your job well.

I will toot my own horn on this. I watched highlights of Purdy in college during training camp and told family members to watch his highlights and that he's a legit QB and I was stoked we picked him up. It was clear that the guy knew how to play the position. I guess NFL scouts have to evaluate based on physical comparisons to every other QB to play and if they don't have the physical characteristics within a specific percentile, then it negatively affects their scouting reports...? Watch his tape lol, the kid is clearly a good QB

After Harbaugh left, every niner fan wanted him out. It wasn’t until he hired Kyle and John that he stepped away for a few years. I remember seeing him in the 2019 NFC championship game after they won and he handed the trophy to Kyle and stayed out the spotlight. It was crazy because I realized he’s been MIA for a while lol but then seeing him talk about everything kind of seemed weird. Talking about everything before the Super Bowl like the jobs done is weird to me but it seemed genuine. He’s excited but job isn’t done yet JED!
