Whoa Mama! I watched Misty's video and just about passed out. I'm not even squeamish, I've been cut, cut on, banged up, broke bones, multiple surgeries, even stitched myself once, but for some reason that got to me! I so admire her, she's a strong Christian woman, STRONG Woman! That said, you would have heard a few foul words out of this boy! Very fun interview though...Thanks!

love both of you ladies and living the way you do is indeed hard work. I was born and raised on a farm in the 50's and 60's. the work is a little easier now but a lot is still done the old way. I would never live anywhere else but the farm.

homesteading can be by degrees...you don't have to go off grid, what you do need is property that supports livestock with no restrictions. don't buy more than you will use, because it's hard to care for excess unused land. The most economical homestead to buy is a resale. Raw land development is hard and expensive.

Sue Moore I just know you are right about the resale. I want raw land to just do exactly how I want. That is so ridiculous because I have no building or other skills to speak of. I will be learning on the job so why would I even want that. I know that reality will set in when the day is near. I will be on grid with a livable home already there, prayerfully. One little note. Animal fat (including butter, marrow and offal) from pasture raised or wild animals is NOT bad for your health in any quantity. In fact it is vital for optimal health. Check out various articles on the Weston A. Price website for more information.

I know exactly how it is to live off grid in this style of life, I lived it growing up, with the exception of having no solar. Nothing romantic about it at all, but it is rewarding in many ways.

Hi! Because by of my limited finances I started with a rabbit then 2 then came a goat then 2 now there are 5 goats. Next come the chickens. But I am not overloaded at all and still have time to work on my gard n spaces and my projects My advice is to stay within your budget and go slow!

Misty, please consider leaving up the fundraiser until you have received enough to buy reliable transportation. I don't think you can get much for under 8 or 9k. That was my experience in helping my daughter purchase her first car. I could tell from your video how difficult it has been for you to accept help from the community. You are exactly the type of hard working, self-reliant person I am happy to give a hand up and I'm glad you have given me a chance to do that. Thanks for doing this video, PN. I agree, don't be in a huge hurry, as long as you are getting regular donations leave it up. You might be able to get really great transportation. We are just paying you for the work you have already done. You will sleep much better at night knowing whatever you purchase is really going to last.

Misty Prepper...I AGREE!!! There are so many BAD People who will sell you an "AS IS" piece of JUNK for under $10,000 dollars!! They buy junk...and RESELL to People who do NOT Know Better!! Always Buy from a Reputable Car Dear...WITH WARRENTEES!!! I was a Victim of a person who sold us a Van for our last $5000 and 7 DAYS!! later--it PERMANENTLY died. I got $100 from the Junk man to scrap it. Had to WALK with my cane and used Buses for next 4 years until husband died, and I got New Car, as I PROMISED Him. (small Life Ins. pay-out) :( Bless You and I hope and Pray You will get a GOOD Vechile and NOT be Swindled.

Cuts ? I’m a big fan of cleaning with normal saline or lightly salted water then a pressure dressing. Done lots of cuts with that had no infection, just do it ASAP. I’m a retired orthopaedic nurse, cleaning is always done with normal saline. Don’t use iodine, I’ve found that it dries the wound edges and retards healing. I’m sure others do it differently but this works for me and I’m clumsy.

Use yarrow for stopping blood flow by constriction of the blood vessels. Only use it for that purpose and as a tea for helping with inflammation. You need to cultivate and use comfrey either Russian bocking hybrid for less spreading or officinal, the wild type for more spreading. When you grind up the comfrey and use it as a poultice, it will astound you how fast a wound heals from the inside out. It stimulates new cell growth and will get very bloodshot looking because of the extra blood flow to the area, and the new cell growth will actually push the infection out. Gouged out holes will fill in.... scrapes will heal almost overnight, burns will be less painful and heal fast with no scarring...... it means "knit bone" and you can dig the root and grate it to make a paste that works similar to plaster of paris cast. It will harden and be the splint but it also is healing too. It is the best compost you can grow, makes goats produce more and better milk.... on and on........ check into it and learn about it. She would not have had that problem if she'd used comfrey.

homesteading is not primitive living. you can have running water and electricity while homesteading its called solar panels/hydroelectric or even wood gas and a water well. If you want to go on a primitive life or cannot afford the equipment that's fine but don't get the two confused they are not the same. Close to each other but not the same.
