Great explanation - clear, precise and short! Just enough to make it clear. Not so like many teachers talking just to extend the length of their videos. thanks Emily, you are great!!!

Thanks! You don't need so many drawing skills for graphic design these days eh but probably good to have the basics. Glad to help :)

I've just completed Emily's drawing course on Udemy. Unfortunately, I can't find out how to leave a review there so doing it here instead. Her course on Udemy is excellent. I've been struggling with drawing for years and I really liked Emily's calm, methodical delivery. Taking this course has certainly incread my confidence in drawing. I would recommend this course wholeheartedly. Five stars.

Thanks so much Tricia, I'm really glad the course helped you. Im not sure how to post a Udemy review either to be honest! Although I know they send you an email a few days after enrolling which has a link to leave a review. Anyway I appreciate you going to the trouble to leave a review here!

this is my third month in learning to draw, I have been following your videos, first I did line, then shapes and isometric forms and now perspective, when do you recommend me to start learning rotating boxes and drawing them? after learning one, two and three point perspective?

Well done on sticking with the drawing practice! If you are comfortable with drawing isometric cubes then definitely move into drawing boxes in perspective. Isometric is good for beginners to get their head around how to draw 3D shapes, but perspective drawing is much more useful if you are interested in drawing realistic looking subjects. I'd suggest learning 1pt and 2pt perspective first as these are the most useful. Unless you are really into something like architectural drawing or animation scenes, then 3pt can wait as is really only useful when you are very high up or very low down from your subject. So the short answer is: start now (as long as you can draw good isometric cubes). Make sure you take some time to use the skills in your own way. Eg. if you learn 2 pt perspective, choose a photo of a box-like subject and have a go at drawing it on your own in 2 pt perspective. Even if you dont have all of the drawing skills yet, doing this will help you figure out what you need to work on next. Good luck!

@@ThePencilRoomOnline thank you for the complete answer, do you have any tips or steps to draw better isometric cubes? at first I used grid pages for exact proportions but now I'm attempting to draw them in a conventional white printer paper.

Just to keep working on getting each set of three edges parallel. You might find it easier to draw the front corner first and draw the 'y' shape to set the angles or maybe it makes more sense for you to draw a square in the front first and then add angled sides and top. Repeat each box 10 times or more. When you've drawn cubes freehand, analyse them with a ruler to check that all the height lines are vertical, all the width lines are parallel angles and all the depth lines are parallel angles. Eventually it becomes second nature! Keep in mind that if your aim is to draw realistically, to draw from observation, then drawing loosely and quickly is more important than having perfectly straight lines. Yes the angles need to be correct but you can draw over the same box several times to correct it and keep the sketch lines. Hope that helps :)
