Trying to figure out how many of the novels I need to read to be prepped for the show. I'm done with Taliesin and Merlin, but being at Caer Loch is making me think I might need to read more maybe? I know Lot is an adult at the end of book 2, but I don't remember Merlin going to Caer Loth in either book so far... do I need to read Arthur, too?

Jeremy said, off the cuff, in a live all access production diary showing that the 1st season covers roughly Taliesin and half of Merlin. Watching the production diaries, I'm thinking that it's more like 5/6ths or 7/8ths of Merlin. The part at Caer Loth will be explained when you read Arthur, but chronologically takes place during the timeline of the book Merlin.

Arthurian myths I've read say that Excalibur's sheath is even more powerful than the sword itself, allowing whomever possesses the sheath to not be injured. Arthur foolishly loses the sheath, and has to rely on the sword's might alone, which is ultimately what led to him being killed.

Another series where people with blond hair have brown or black eyebrows. Why? I don't get it. It's not a big deal, don't read this comment harsher than it's meant to be. It just baffles me how everyone seems to invest millions into set pieces and costumes and what not and then keep the eyebrows dark so that it's more obvious the hair is a wig or dyed.

It might have to do with what shows up on camera better? Like blond eyebrows will often disappear under bright lights and that’ll make the actor’s expressions seem more muted. People act with their brows a lot 😂. I could be totally wrong but that was my first thought. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think it was either personality clash, or about Candace criticizing Israel operations in Gaza, which seems to be a third rail at DW. I'm not fully on board with DW on that, but I'm not going to say that they have to pay to produce content that goes against what they apparently hold to be a core value.
