SHOWING all the work you’re putting into the show is a great way of saving off the critics saying that it’ll be a “cheap looking” show. No one can deny the quality that’s at work here when you SEE the set building, stuntman performing, the lengths you went to for the bullfight, and so forth. When the first couple production diary videos came out, I wasn’t expecting much but a cheap show either, and didn’t bother watching them. Now that I’ve been watching them, I am so eager for this show to air!!

As a Northerner myself I'm keeping a close eye on this! Lawhead's Pendragon Cycle often had a particular eccentric personality, the Merlin book especially was a trip! I hope the adaptation won't be too dry: a bit of otherworldly strangeness and dark humour goes a long way to elevate such a show. As does the soundtrack. Any news what kind of score it'll have? Game of Thrones was enhanced by its music not being derivative, it was dynamic & reactive...really helps pulls the audience into the drama.

agreed! when I pick up a Lawhead book, I KNOW there's going to be a special otherworld feel. It happened in Song of Albion and in Pendragon. My first exposure was of course In The Dragon King books. Lawhead is an amazing talented writer. Should get the guys who composed for the books to do something. They captured that otherworld feel!

So are they adapting the first two books of the series in season one? Because I'm currently reading the Pendragon Cycle and am on book two. It's quite clear that the events of the first book only make up part of season one. The characters of Merlin, Ganieda, Uther, and Ygerna don't show up until the second novel.

You should probably just watch the show because if you read the books you will be disappointed because books are almost always better. A lot of times when movie is better it is like a completely different thing and they only used the title of the book and that is it.

That's actually why I recommend reading the books first - it's the superior experience, and the movies can ruin the books by taking away the suspense and the place of your imagination in building the landscapes and characters in a way that is personal to you as your read. That said, if you want to maximize your enjoyment of the films/show, probably you should watch it first.

Why? She publicly and openly verbally went after her boss. That's not the behavior of a religious person living a moral life, much less acceptable employee behavior. If she had an issue with the company, you raise that in public, and if it isn't resolved to your satisfaction, you simply leave the company. She tried doing what Crowder did, and got the same treatment, and like many of her followers said, she's better off going solo. That being said, there was also bad steps taken by another in the company, in trying to have a very public fight that had absolutely NOTHING to do with the company or its projects. I simply don't know why people are blaming the company for a personal disagreement between two individuals. Unless the intention is to purposefully smear and destroy the company, which I'm more inclined to believe since some internet celebrities and their followers can't handle criticism from the company's hosts, and a childish "if you aren't 100% with me on all topics, you are the enemy" mentality. Is it just me or does anyone find it kinda weird how the daily wire are essentially showing us the entire show and explaining everything that happens before any of the episodes have aired? This is the kind of stuff you release after each episode has aired. Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but normally you want to keep your audience in the dark about the stuff you're doing until the show releases.

The series being adapted is only well known to those that already read it and they need that core audience to champion it as they cannot put more than a few million dollars promoting it. This is why they did it. Apart of showing that this was going to be the highest quality and budget production DW+ has done yet by far. I mean, It is of higher budget and quality that any of the movies they bought, not just the ones they actually produced. Only way to convey this enough is doing this BTS series. In fact, apart of The Pendragon Cycle series, only Atlas Shrugged will have this same level of production. From what has been rumored, the next two movies are still clever low budget indie fare. But we will know for sure within a month or so. As TPC gets an actual start date and they start teasing what is left to come for 2024.

In the books, they were wolf hounds. I'm guessing that set-ready, trained Cane Corsos were easier to find. Cane Corsos are Italian breed of mastiff, not American, btw, and credibly could be considered to date back to the Roman empire.
