The uncut walk upstairs and view out the window was really helpful for keeping track of where things are at the convent. It’s easy for you guys to know exactly which room is where, but us on the other side of the world, we’re not walking through it every day, and video cuts, while appropriate and necessary, skip out on the linking detail our brains need to keep things oriented. Another method you could use that would be helpful is just inserting an image of like a blueprint-type outline drawing of the convent buildings, with a highlighted section for whichever room you’re talking about. You could even have the highlight move from room to room as you’re talking over it. Floors don’t matter too much, there’s only a few and they’re different enough it’s easy to keep track. But whether a room is near the chapel, or the kitchen… that’s the part that gets confusing. The map would provide the visual orientation link, without having to film and include lots of walking up stairs and down hallways. Great job on the progress today guys, and on all the work you’ve accomplished this year. Stay safe at your party, and I hope you have a great start to the new year!

In my past life as an architectural historian, I would have said that the off-square shape of this room as compared to the rest of the convent could argue that it predates the rest of the building. Are you certain about the construction history of the convent? Given the size of the fireplace, in the US I would have said it was built for cooking- not just pots hanging over a fire, but roasting big joints of meat on a spit. Might the two wings have been built independently, and then later connected by the main house block? As you know, restoring old buildings is detective work on many different levels. Anyway, great work! I am always impressed by the energy of you and Yanis.

I don't know which is more satisfying to watch; you making something really nice like the library or you ripping out something really awful like the partition wall and ceiling of this room. I relished every minute of the removal of the floor at the bottom of the staircase and could hardly wait to see the smashing up of the wretched wall on its side. This episode is pretty close.

How about making the room into a lounge/"Room of Requirement"/multi purpose room and then making an artist atelier on the 2. floor using a few of the current bedrooms. The light will be amazing on the 2. floor, as it will be natural lighting, and maybe you could do some skylights for even better lighting for painting or whatever the workshops will be used for. What Michael began with his channel, spurred me on to watch more chateau, convent, then I added ancient farms, manors, small houses, the Legends, etc. Every channel that branched out from your family, the Pethericks, has filled my subscriptions on YT. Chateau Diaries gave me even more channels to watch. Giving me ambition to do more on our 100+ year old home. Billy, I had my husband watch you using and talking about Osmo on the new doors in the convent and you actually encouraged him to use it on our front door, that he had to sand and seal.
