The symbolism at 0:58 was striking - taking down the crucifix and putting the KZbin subscriber plaque in its place - I'm not a religious person and I actually work with social media, but, it really said something to me about the idea of worship in the age of social media.

The textured wall is called portaflek, it was popular in the 80’s and 90’s in schools. It’s sprayed on then sealed with a clear laquer. It’s very hard wearing and can be scrubbed clean. Best way to get rid is too sand it, then primmer the surface then paint hope this help

Billy, I looked at the speckled "paint" on the "office" walls and offer an opinion. In 1959, my parents built the new house and I had my apartment in the lower level. The walls were covered in the same texture you noticed. The panels were pre-finished then installed, which tells me this might be a sprayed finish. I am thinking sanding then skim coating and painting. This is s highly durable finish and it will last decades if you leave it. If I can't destroy it, it must be tough!!! Kudos on your You Tube award!!

Imagine the strife & anxiety of having to say "I have to go in to the office to work." With office views & settings like Michael has, he'll never need a vacation again! Cottage, Chateau, Lake, Woods, Stable Yard the possibilities are endless!💃💝 The little porch roof would have been great over the boys play structure to protect from sunburn & hot equipment! Maybe build a little playhouse on or off stilts, like a tree house or toy storage. "I gotta roof, now I just need walls n a floor"(it was a cute roof)

I live in small town PA USA,and they’re tearing down more old buildings every day. It’s so sad to see! I think that’s why your videos give me such joy! People gave their blood, sweat, tears, and sometimes their lives building these old beautiful places. It’s a joy to see them restored!
@rosemarymalcolm91182 жыл бұрын
So lovely seeing beautiful old buildings being brought back to life. Regarding your comments on the tarmac, we live in a small Victorian seaside town called Southport, just north of Liverpool, and it breaks my heart knowing that beneath the miles and miles of tarmac now covering the majority of roads are the most beautiful granite setts/cobbles. You only see them when roadworks are being carried out but I always think if they hadn’t been covered over in the first place the council wouldn’t have to spend so much money constantly filling potholes. This made me think, when I first saw your tarmac, I bet there are lovely setts/cobbles beneath. You may find, if you remove the tarmac layer, the originals still there. It would save you a huge amount of money if you could uncover them. Of course, they may be gone or impossible to uncover but it would be interesting to see! Keep up the great work x

In regard to the kitchen wall, maybe use a fine grinding pad on a random orbital sander to smooth the surface. A regular sanding pad might take too long. The granite troughs might look nice in the courtyard instead of out back. Depends on what you decide to do with the rest of the landscaping on the rest of the convent property. Instead of taking up the tarmac in the courtyard that you dislike, why not cobble over it so that you have a firmer foundation for the cobblestones? If you think that it might raise the surface too high next to the building, then dig out a shallow drain that mimics the line of the building & line it also with the cobblestones. A dropped surface drain 30-60 meters in width would be good to have during heavy downpours of rain. In addition to raising the "paved" surface of the courtyard, you could also raise the grass & garden areas with some soil amendments. Well, there's my 2 pence (centimes) worth of suggestions.
