Yeah, truly a wonderful difference made. My problem is that I will want to do such edits for many photographs taken - and so I will end up spending all day at my Lightroom screen! 😃

Always enjoy your editing. Have you considered doing Calibration right after the Basic editing? Over the past year I changed my workflow (and LR panel) to do Calibration as the next step after Basic and before Color work. I find that it gives me a better base for dialing in colors and tones. For me, Calibration adjustments at the end caused me to go back and make additional Color changes to compensate.

Thank you so much for commenting! I do try to move the calibration adjustments to the beginning of the editing every now and then, but I always go back to my workflow doing it at the end because I'm so used to it haha

Nice work on the bird overall. I watched this video to see what you would do about the fine feathers on the back of the head. I'm trying to edit a photo of a raven that has some fine feathers protruding into the background and any mask I use does not select those fine feathers. It's very difficult to subtract the background between these very small feathers or add the tiny feathers. I'm trying to make the background darker and the incomplete selection leaves a strange outline around the bird. Any suggestions?

Thank you for the comment! Unfortunately, at some point we have to manually create a mask :( That means going into Photoshop, zooming in on pixel level and draw the mask with the brush, pen or lasso tool. I HATE doing this myself, but I think in your specific case thats the only viable option

I like it too, but what do you do with the feather tips with the bokeh in the back, that look grey? That stood out to me, as you were doing so many masks. Otherwise it was a beautiful edit!

I am also bothered/distracted by the darkened feather tips, against the bright back light, at the back of the head.

Thanks for the comment! Unfortunately, these areas seem to fine for lightrooms masking tools to handle. I personally think its ok for this tiny area to look a bit strange (someone not invloved in photo editing would notice it), but if you want BEST quality, you might want to use a bit less masking on that particular spot :-)

I downloaded your photo.. and u shot that photo in 12800 İSO ????? omg. and its so clean. how come? what camera do you have? in my sony zve10 if i shoot at 1000 iso, it will be like a mud.. what the hell is 12.800 iso xD ?
@ThePhlogPhotographyАй бұрын
The high iso works quite well here, becasue we do have a bit of light so the noise levels dont become too crazy plus we can fix a lot of things with AI denoise! :-)

Have you tried duplicate and invert mask? That would have saved you some steps.😅
@ThePhlogPhotographyАй бұрын
Duplicating some masks for this image might have saved some time, I agree. I personally just rarely use the duplicate button, I prefer creating new masks instead :-)

Alles Geschmackssache, aber ich verstehe nicht, wie man ein vorher schon sehr schönes Bild mit so viel Aufwand verschlimmbessern kann. Tut mir leid.
@ThePhlogPhotographyАй бұрын
Richtig erkannt: es ist Geschmackssache, wem die Bearbeitung hier zu viel ist, der konnte hoffentlich noch etwas zum Thema Masken mitnehmen

That’s what I call overcooking the image😂
