Been personally keeping and propagating orchids this way for about 10 years. I recently got into other plants and surprisingly it took me a LONG time to get soil right. Ultimately I ended up doing with them what I do with orchids but in passive hydro… Wildly successful for propagating pretty much all plants I have found.

Hello! I just received 2 anthurium Regale from Ecuagenera with long stems and healthy roots all over and beautiful leaves! I’m tempted to cut and divide the stems for propagation. Is it advisable? Would appreciate your input. I’m learning a lot from your videos. Thanks for sharing.

Had to rewatch this video again :-). If one keeps a queen anthurium in the perlite for a long time , can one use slow release plant food pellets ? I have a queen re-rooting in perlite and it is starting to put out a new leaf . Thanks ^_^
@ThePlantsMeow
@ThePlantsMeow 3 жыл бұрын
I would use a slow release like nutricote. Osmocote relies on osmosis and will release when wet. In this scenario it would release too much. 😊

Hi Ella, can most houseplants grow solely in perlite? I really am trying to transition from all soil mediums to solely other mediums such as perlite, sphagnum moss and,or river rocks, I guess more like hydroponics but I would love just perlite. I feel like these latter mediums suffer less from pests, diseases and root rot then soil mixes and requires less repotting but I don't mind that. I'd appreciate your input thank you.🌱🤗🙏🏼🙏🏼

Thanks I think I'm going to love this method...doing this for two plants from oversees that have very small root systems and I would be devastated if they died...this seems like the smartest way to develop the plants either from stem cuttings or if they are just not ready to go in a substrate mixture..thanks..love seeing how Ela would do something !!
