$500 a week is a lot for doing fxck all. But $900 a week is fxck all for doing a lot. There ya go, that's half the problem, and a big reason why many prefer the benefit. Just given ya some free game 😉 Oh and let's not forget, that's $900 minus work related costs.. I don't blame people for choosing the benefit.

Apartheid was a system used in SA in which people who were not white could not vote, could not own private property, had to live where directed and their children were not required to be educated. Often inaccurately used to describe a quite different circumstance in NZ.

Dont know whats worse these tangi payments or the rates rebate of $110k to a maori landowner who stopped paying rates to the NP district council 10years ago and was exempted under a 2021 act rating of whenua ammendment act, currently maori are on a roll where division based on race is running rampant, and the reason maori are objecting to the treaty principles bill.

Bro Maori were on the Maori electoral roll before David even started drafting the bill - we oppose it for a plethora of reasons, but others reduce us to dribbling baffoons that don't have a mind of their own. How condescending. I disagree W the Maori land owner being made exempt, you said they "stopped paying" which indicates at some point they were paying and had opted into the rates system. The only ones who can get the rates written off are those land owners that never opted into the rates system and land surveys were never legally conducted, rightfully anyways. You can't opt into something and then opt out without telling the other party or change the terms and conditions without the other party's consent without reprimand and consequences. That's debauchery. That mindset applies to the treaty principles bill.

the "Maori Economy" (investments and land) is worth $70 BILLION - why can't the funding come out of that?
@Pastaaa204
@Pastaaa204 4 сағат бұрын
Because it's not separate from the nz economy😂 they are indeed taking funding from the Maori economy, relaaaaax. One clear distinction I'd like to make is the fact aside from borrowed loans from banks and individual loan sharks, the nz economy was built off Maori land and investments and continues to be bolstered by that via criminally low rental rates on Maori whenua allowing certain businesses and families to thrive - often it doesn't even cover the rates, let alone insurance premiums if we can afford it. So even today Maori loss is benefitting modern day pakeha families, I think it's really sad you're advocating for more loss. I think it's time you take a hard look in the mirror to see who's really riding the gravy train. That 70 billion isn't reflective of the true settlement sums, it's dishonest to demand a portion of the pittance we were given (most cases reparations are less than 1 percent, this is all the crown was willing to part with. Maori took a 99.91% loss and managed to do what the new zealand govt could never and build it up through our own merits without having to rely on punching down on minority groups to line your public purse. To expect more is shameful, but pakeha are a shameless people🤷🏻‍♀️

MSD are a mess. There are multiple legal cases building up due to the practices and behaviour of employee's behaviour. Can tell you with confidence that there are individuals trying to bring cases against MSD that are gonna cost the crown alot of money and msd's HR department are having big problems with staff over it. Example the manager who wrote a letter accusing a father of making up the rape of his daughter. The manager is very upset that her employee lied to her which was what the decline was based on and while she is being threatened legally by the gp with a lawsuit she has gone to HR who have a real dilemma on their hands. @@BaldheadfromHuntly I say it’s not true because WINZ provides funeral support to anyone in financial need, regardless of ethnicity. Māori tangihanga have specific cultural costs that WINZ recognises just like they recognise different funeral needs for other communities. If a Pākehā family needed food for their funeral gathering or wake, they could also apply for help. They’d need to explain why the costs were necessary for their grieving process, just like Māori need to explain why tangihanga related costs are essential. If WINZ declined their request unfairly, they’d have the right to challenge that decision just like Māori do when their applications get denied.

I understand that you can request a Review of Decision without leaving the building, and MSD are legally obliged to start the process. I've been told that an ROD will generally cost $10K to complete, so, naturally, MSD tends to fold, as it's uneconomical for them to do otherwise. I'm not pilling that $10K figure out of thin air - I can't see how it would cost so much, but from what I understand, that's the figure. From an unimpeachable source, I might add... Yeah, so for those who know how the system works to their advantage, that's the simplest way to get what you want. Precedent already set, long ago, I'm afraid. I can see both arguments, but I'm buggered if I can see how it's fair. PS - I'm on a benefit, and I'm on the bones of my arse. I don't have the moral bankruptcy to do this, much as I probably could. I HATE being on a benefit, although I'm grateful for it, but it's not Jobseekers, and I'm still applying for jobs anyway, with or without assistance from MSD. Jeez - where are all the jobs? Ask our government, I guess.
