A thought regarding Spitfire Ace: perhaps factor in the deterioration of abilities (or increase of risk) based on too many flights in too short a time for the pilot. As he gets a little rest, his abilities begin to recover.

I think Spitfire Ace needs a simple strategic layer covering the whole of the Battle of Britain, and the titular ace interacts with.

Make different modules: 1 Battle of Britain Ace; 2. Mediterranean Ace (North Africa and Malta); 3. Overlord Ace; 4. Ace of the Rising Sun, etc
