I used to do a lot of woodworking and could have made my own table, but I have had some injuries and can't use most power tools safely anymore. I'm also not going to spend thousands of dollars on a commercial game table. My table is a door blank sitting across two 2x2 Kallax units and that works VERY well for me :).

The TABLE! 9x5!!!!!!!!😮 Father-in-Law John, Hand Salute!!🫡 45 square feet of war gaming happiness!!! Father-in-Law John is now a war gaming legend. "If you build it, they will play a really big war game on it." There's war games, and then there's "Normie" games -> games for normal people.😄 Hermann Luttmann has the THREE Fs of war. Fog, friction & fortune. There is also the four Fs of combat. Find em', fix em', flank em' & finish em'.

Oh man At Any Cost Metz is SOOOOO good! After reading A Day of Battle, about Mars-La-Tour and Gravelotte/St Privat I think the system really catches a lot of crazy command issues of that battle/war. Underrated game and under appreciated conflict in the annuals of war history. PLAY IT NOW!!!!

Love the chit pull mechanic. Bought Panzer Command , The Gateway to Stalingrad based on cover art and was floored by the mechanic, early on (80's) had almost no one to play wargames with and it really enabled solo at least for me. Will hold you to seeing Jaws of Victory on the table.

Probably going to add Chit Pull to one of my games. Here are some options that I can see so far. Any others? - Adds more Randomness other than just dice rolls - if the chits have people on them, it randomizes when they come into the game. - If the chits are types of units it randomizes what you get, but does not dictate when historical people come into the game. - Good for the bot in Solo or Cooperative - Fog of War as it hides what is coming before it comes - Continue Fog of War if chits have 1 side empty and are only revealed to opponents during the attack or if scouted. - Can randomize Supplies - Add Misc events - Add attributes that you could place on top of other chits - Can help new war gamers with having too many options.

I don't think I've ever played a "chit pull" game in the way you've described. However, I enjoy tactical combat games that use chit pull to apply combat results to units like Conflict of Heroes or Thunderbolt Apache Leader/Sherman Leader.

I’m basically a solo gamer and agree that chit pull can make a number of games solo friendly. I have Kaiserkrieg and enjoy that game. Just picked up Global war and will play that soon. Also picked up the new versions of both Hapsburg Eclipse and Ottoman Sunset. Both look and play great. So glad these out of print games have been redone and released again.

The warfighter fantasy rules are really rough. I stumbled through a couple of adventures and I think I have the hang of it. I played a lot of modern and wwii so that helped. But I agree the battle board thing is super confusing and I can’t see a reason why they did not just keep the lanes. For things like splitting the party. A lot of people seem to get tripped up with the striking range but I think it’s like hand to hand in other versions just you can hit everyone not just your Hand to hand target. The NAM rules on bgg are very helpful. Warfighter never had the best rules but it’s such a fun system, I think fantasy it awesome but the rules are very rough still Another thing that really was confusing apparently the spell costs are you choose one of the comma. So it’s 1 mana or 2 discards or 1 action. Not all three. That is at least how I understand it from NAM rules. Rules are poorly written for sure and it is a bummer because it is an awesome series and seems awesome but out of box a lot of problems
