I used to live in LA County and have visited Malibu a time or two. Here's some interesting observations: 1. very, very few people have ocean front property in Malibu and if they do there's noisy PCH as their front lawn 24/7/365. 2. Some of the houses with the best views are actually a Mobile home court on the Ocean side of PCH. 3. There is an excellent seafood restaurant on the beach in Malibu that charges $40 just for parking in their lot. 4. Like a lot of LA luxury real estate destinations, the nicest part of it is the name. I'd take my money to San Diego, the houses are more creative, less smog, and the people are less obnoxiously unauthentic.
