Has Knowles never considered on 3rd and long to pull Simon off the field, bring in Hicks and have he and Sonny blitz? You keep the back DBs in place for coverage and add speed to their rush. Heck, drop Sonny into coverage and rush Hicks from the LB spot. This seems all too obvious.

Ohio State only had 4 possessions in the 2nd half. Pump the brakes on acting like they couldn’t move the ball without Simmons. They had 216 yards and 9 1st downs in the 2nd half. They scored 10 points and were driving the ball with ease on the last drive when the clock unfortunately ran out. The key to 2nd half of this season is the D Line. They have to find a way to get pressure on the opposing QB.

@user-yp5bv7ec8b I think the SIM pressures are fine, but situationally is that the time to roll out that particular coverage? 3rd and 9. 90 seconds left in the half, and you're up by 6. Being up 3 vs. down 1 going into half makes a big difference. Especially when you start the second half with a td. Up 10 vs. up 6 changes the dynamic. Same thing happened in the UGA game.

If Knowles feels pressure to bow down to what Larry Johnson wants with the front four .. is Day aware of that? In other words, does Day play an entirely hands off role with his D coaching staff? Or is he aware, for example, of the D rushing two LB's on 3rd and 9 and dropping all four D-linemen? You would think Day would ask Knowles and LJ .. "What the H is going on here?" .. "Why are we not putting pressure on the QB?!" Etc.

I disagree. Its not a talent thing. We have seen this D line feast this year. In our game against a very good Missouri team we forced 6 sacks, including 3 by Jack himself. So what's wrong? Is this D line so bad it is worse than Idaho and Boise and MSU? No. Our d line did better against MSU than Oregons. But for some reason in the big games our defensive playcalling reverts to the most vanilla, basic defense guaranteed not to stop anyone.

There should be a very limited conversation about offense. They over achived even though the defense did nothing to help them. Football isnt supposed to be a shootout. Defense is supposed to disrupt an offensive game plan and force a team to make adjustments, change their game plan, and make them more predictable. And, that is NEVER done in the big game. The defense lets the offense dictate. OSU has the talent, this is 1000% a defensive coaching issue.

We missed on Cornelius who is playing well for Oregon last season. As for pressure..it seems like few teams are really getting pressure when I watch other games. I don't know if it's due to allowing oline to hold so much. I don't see any Chase YOung type players though I'm sure there is but I don't catch those games. Usually it's due to a broken assignment. Cadden Curry Can not be on the sidelines when he would start for virtually every team in the country including Oregon. McDonald needs to at least play 25% of the snaps. Lack of Pass rush somehow has got worse every year. Dropping 8 just to cover grass is nonsensical. Our zone, inexplicably, leads to 3-4 players covering Grass!

Get off the”soft” rhetoric. Ask Oregon if they think Ohio State is soft? You sound like aTTUN fan. Are you?

There are things to shore up, but you don’t just quit if you lose a game. Your comment is a pretty defeatist attitude to have.

Igbinossa holds every play. Denzel completely missed the moment. worst game for are CB's. in quite some time. As far as D- line, these referees refuse to call holding anymore. Thats in all of college football.

How does State lose that game more than Oregon wins it?? Oregon intercepted a pass on the first drive that was not given to them. That was +7 for OSU. Oregon botched an EP, Misses an easy FG then missed a 2 point conversion. Overall that’s +12 points for Ohio State. Oregon WON this game.

Every year our fans and media drink the kool-aid when we win 4 or 5 games versus nobodies. They vaguely say, they’re not sure about x, y and z but rarely want to flesh them out until we play an elite team and WE’RE EXPOSED…… Day made the wrong decision last time we lost to Oregon……he didn’t understand the real issue once again this year and the bandaid was ripped off…..and we saw how inept he is as a coach with the most talent…..

How do y'all consistently find away to blame LJ but zero silence on how bad the zone coverage was is beyond me. Either Ohio State is talented or they are not. Jim Knowles calls horrible games win they matter most. 3 years of evidence should be enough but somehow someway y'all find away to deflect from him.

Simmons is good not elite. Osu BIGGEST issue is Knowles period. The man has a habit of choking in big games. He is Kerry 2.0 there's no debating.

If jtt would've sacked Gabriel instead of trying to be a hero and hit the already covered rb and Gabriel runs for an untouched 27 yd td we probably win. JTT is the biggest culprit in this loss imo next to burke. He did nothing else. He's supposed to be a run stopper and Oregon rb had a field day and he got no sacks

No Austin. We're not sick of you talking about the DL. We're sick of you talking about it and then when the beat gets a chance to ask actual straightforward questions to the coaches about this, you guys beat around the bush and don't just ask a straight question.

LJ cage rush scheme is garbage. Jack and JT are so wide from the line all the offensive line need to do is following them around and continue to push them out of the play. The interior linemen are not allowed to do anything but straight up rush. Again, the offensive line only has to stand them up and it’s over. LJ is always talking about tools in the toolbox but I think his box is empty. The game of football has passed him by and he needs to retire or be fired. The defensive line has not been dominate for years. Tim Walton needs to stop talking about BIA and teach his secondary how to cover a receiver. And if they can’t, put someone else in. Burke should have been pulled from the game for a least a couple series. I hope Knowles coaches with more emotion than he shows in press conference It’s time he stops taking the blame for poor play and start making players accountable.

Ryan Day is loyal to no player. McCord is evidence of that. Ran him out of town. Who would want to play for Day when all he cares about is a national championship? It’s all about money and position with him. But, blame the university. Insane fans expect a NC every year. Funny how Iowa doesn’t yet that have great teams year in and year out. OSU fans are psychotic.

No, we don't. But we do expect more than 2 championships in 50 years. No one has wasted more legitimate national championship opportunities than Ohio State. Ryan Day is simply continuing that with his 2-7 record against top 5 teams and 1-3 against Michigan.

With the expectations and the millions of dollars spent, Day won't survive. This was the 1st nail in his coffin. Loses to Michigan's or lose to different team. The only that would save him is winning the title. Brian Hartline is Head Coach in waiting, or they could get Freeman out of Notre Dame
