Kevin Gillett now retired and a director at Lloyd's HBOS, wrote on social media recently: ' In 2009 Rachel Reeves was 3 levels below me. She was a Complaints Support Manager, NOT an Economist. She nearly got sacked due to an expenses scandal when managers were found to have been signing off on each other's expenses. She then had lots of doctor and dental appointments, and so was followed. It turned out she was doing Labour Party business. When confronted, she resigned'.

Taxing the hotels? Given all the hotels are booked by the home office, how the hell is that going to help fiscally? "Lets tax a proportion of the money we are spending in the first place and incur the attendant administrative costs of doing so!" Genius!
@ciarantotallymyrealname15 сағат бұрын
Yes. Let's hire loads of people to take from one hand and give to the other. What could possibly go wrong? (Except all the salaries of the chair warmers). I signed on once after >25y full time employment (mostly out of curiosity) after my previous employer became insolvent. Had to attend pointless "job centre" meetings many miles away at my own cost and time wasted actually looking for new work. All the money (haha) I got in bennies after 25y working was removed from my insolvency claim. Net result to me: £0. Meanwhile, many people paid to process useless claims. Lots of nice cars in the (employees only) car park though. Wastrels, sack 80%, no harm done. 🖕

Certain ledgers don't have to be reported to the public. They only have to show the ledgers where the money from the hotels comes in, they refuse to show the money that goes out.

@I can’t remember off the top of my head, lots of basic and ridiculous assumptions about money, budgeting and taxation effects on the private sector, I mean stuff that was blatantly obvious to anyone who’d ever worked in the private sector, One thing I remember that did stick out was when he made crazy claims about personally knowing several hundred people who’d died from Covid and one family alone that had lost over twenty members, then doubling down hard when the sane people at the table expressed any doubt. Apparently he gets paid a fortune too, is a staunch environmentalist, 100% on board with Miliband’s net zero ideas, and yet can’t recognise the hypocrisy of him and his family flying away on several exotic and faraway holidays a year.
