Lyrics:
Just a castaway, an island lost at sea, oh
Another lonely day with no one here but me, oh
More loneliness than any man could bear
Rescue me before I fall into despair, oh
I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle (Yeah)
Message in a bottle (Yeah)
A year has passed since I wrote my note
I should have known this right from the start
Only hope can keep me together
Love can mend your life, but love can break your heart
I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle (Yeah)
Message in a bottle (Yeah)
(Oh) Message in a bottle (Yeah)
Message in a bottle (Yeah)
Walked out this morning, don't believe what I saw
Hundred billion bottles washed up on the shore
Seems I'm not alone at being alone
Hundred billion castaways looking for a home
I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle (Yeah)
Message in a bottle (Yeah)
Message in a bottle (Oh)
Message in a bottle (Yeah)
Sending out an SOS
Sending out an SOS
I'm sending out an SOS
I'm sending out an SOS
Sending out an SOS

I was in the car with my dad when I asked him to tell me about a song he liked. He said ‘message in a bottle’ by the police and put the song. He told me what he liked most was the message of the song, he explained it to me with a smile on his face. Now I absolutely and unconditionally love this song. It will forever remind me of my father and how mutual our love is, now I try not to cry when I hear this song haha

Thank you KZbin for enabling us to see this video. I had the Police's hits recorded on a tape back in the day when I was a kid. I was too young to go out and see them live. The eighties was pretty grim for most working -class people in London. The highlight was -some- of the music. The Police was one of the bands I first got into, along side the Jam and the Rolling Stones. The music from good bands never dies!

Every Breath became the most widely pervading legacy due to its poppy quality, covers and remixing etc. Message in Bottle, also quite poppy, remains a solid and pretty popular radio song. But Roxanne is THE iconic song. In itself, it is simply out there on its own. It broke the norms and established the band as unique. Still, Walking on the Moon is, for me, the most sublime.

that's why if guys are intelligent enough that wanted to make it in pop rock, then study everything you can; mainly jazz, which got more important than ever in the 80s to have something else to fall back on. one girl i was involved with briefly in the 90s, didn't like his playing, and i knew right off the bat it was because she didn't understand what he was doing at all. so, you can have the brains and talent, but you still need to understand how to make something like Stuy's drumming work.
