Thank you for this video. I have been trying to fixture my two pool lights since I bought my house 28 yrs ago. I just set the lights inside and kept putting them back in every time they floated out. Most of the time they stayed in but your video resolved my issue. Thank you so much.

How do you guys seal the wiring for the light?
@thepoolguy2 жыл бұрын
The wire is installed on the light fixture by the manufacturer. We only run it through the conduit and seal the conduit up. The light itself is sealed.
@toddgolling57602 жыл бұрын
The pool light is also, if wired correctly, to a GFCI circuit. If it even THINKS there will be a chance of shorting, the circuit opens preventing electrocution. The wiring is fished through conduit to a junction box above the water line.

my old pool had a very narrow niche 8.75 in, and can only find 10 inch lights. How would you adapt the 10 inch light to fit the 9 inch niche without having to chisel out the old niche?

Pentair requires a special pilot screw to insure grounding the housing to the the mounting ring and wet niche. Per Pentair, failure to use the screw could create an electrical Hazard which could result in death or serious injury. Does the use of this repair wedge insure the grounding?
@thepoolguy2 жыл бұрын
So that would not be a grounding bar, but a bonding bar. I went back and installed one after I did this video cause I realized it. But its from the niche to the light ring. The ground wire is in the wiring for the light itself, so in terms of pool code, the wire from the ring to the niche is bonding. At least thats how I interpret the code. Nevertheless, we made sure it was there.

I'm sure with those being LED, they'd have to be low voltage anyway at 12v so no one would get hurt or killed. Amperage to the lights I'm sure are low as well.

Is this a pool in the water park? I always assumed the park could only operate during daylight hours.
@thepoolguy2 жыл бұрын
We can operate at night if the lights are working.

What if that bottom tab was also missing, would the wedge still work? Or is there another product to help if the tab is also missing?
@thepoolguy2 жыл бұрын
If that's the case, may be best to replace the light entirely. Not much could be done to make it safe

Too bad you don't show how to put which side of the wedge goes into the wall, the round part the flat part?
@thepoolguy2 жыл бұрын
Well, it's pulling up against the old screw hole, so the flat part is usually best so it's like a clamp.
