What is the best way to clean the wedging canvas? If with water, will it damage or mold the wood underneath?

I’m a newbie so this is just a guess but maybe you could use a dilute solution of white vinegar with a bit of water

I don't wash it and it's ok. If the clay is very wet, I'd wedge it on a plaster slab first, and then transfer to the canvas board when the clay isn't smearing. I made a video covering how to make a plaster slab too if you want to check that out? kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmLKaIudp7Jnesk

How do you keep it from molding?

Hello, I don't find it gets moldy. The clay dries out on the canvas very quickly and it doesn't mold. I guess it may get moldy if you keep it somewhere damp, but otherwise it should be ok.

@@ThePotteryWheel I use this same technique & had to take a bit of prolonged absence from my work. (Several months, health-related) Not any bit of mold or mildew. I also use vinegar on my clay to remoisten as needed in some of my slab building. I also use it in my slip mix. That'll work with & will definitely hinder mold & mildew. (I've also used a fairly strong mixture on some clay that HAD some mildew on it. It got pushed to the back & under some newer clay, had a bunch on it. It wasn't a huge amount but I wanted to use it in a layering project. I was amazed at how it worked.) I'd just look into rules using vinegar in clay storage and use in/on projects. In a 10 oz. Bottle I Mix 1:09 1 oz. Vinegar 9 oz. Water
