After Sri Abdul Kalam it is so nice to see senior leaders with so much deep technical insights. We need more leaders like Dr Saraswat to lead important government research institutions. Thank you for bringing us this short but information packed interview Mr Snehesh Phillip.

In defence, the key areas that need reform are: 1. simplifying of govt department's complex policies & over regulations, seen during peacetime, 2. improving the ease of doing business & the environment in India 3. Large industry has to invest in upgrading the skills & training in state educational institutes To stay ahead of emerging challenges in fast changing tech landscape, our defense funding processes needs to upgrade for swift transactions. A balanced defense modernisation means we have, 25% state-of-the-art equipments, 50% modern systems & rest are established systems for stability. Even if we are successful in large-scale production & economy of scale, the benefits of acquiring high tech defense items will be short lived due to the transient advantage, where the advantages gained from investing in complex systems are temporary, as they become outdated before costs decrease.

With speed of 1500m/sec ..considering burn time of 120 sec it will go about 180KM only...it is not sufficient to engage our enemies ..hope soon it will be extended

dude it's first scramjet test for God sake , you don't reach 10 min hypersonic time on first test of your scramjet test , they will regularly test and will try to increase its hypersonic burn time, more the burn time , more material research will be done capable of handling high heat

Nice interview but defence technologies always confuse me. So the glider flies on a higher altitude & cruise missiles on lower. So what are fractional orbital bombardment systems (FOBS) often a term used with hypersonic technologies. Are they gliders or cruise missiles.
@Gojo_Satorou274
@Gojo_Satorou274 16 күн бұрын
That is a kind of ICBM payload where the missile bus (with multiple MIRV warheads) are ejected into the low earth orbit and can sustain itself in that orbit, then once it is near the target the engine (mostly cryogenic) is fired back on and repositions the missile bus to launch MIRV warheads over the target. The advantages of FOBS are mainly for hitting specifically continental US mainland since it was developed in late cold war era. Especially the missile fields of Montana Wyoming and South Dakota are the targets. Also you get unlimited range and unpredictable approach direction. For example Russia could launch FOBS capable Satan-2 ICBMs which would travel over china, India, Indian ocean, antartica and approach the US mainland from the south where NORAD early warning radars are not positioned. So FOBS are like normal ballistic missiles but in short they enter low earth orbit and come back unpredictably over a target.

there is a booster which will fire first and take missile to very high speeds and then only the scramjet engine will start ...so that range is only for scramjet part....whole range will be much higher,
