unless we invest in research we would not be able to achieve top position.....ASML is only company in world that manufactures EUV machine and it took 30 years to build first one. I am so much confidence in our bureaucracy that they will ruin everything. So unless those bastard IAS officers and bastard Sarkari Karamcharis do their jobs seriously, India will not achieve expected results.

​@@coldram1111 asml might be the only company that makes euv machines but the bulk of chips out there are made with duv machines. additionally, asml being a leader in the lithography machines doesn't make the netherlands/belgium the top manufacturers of chips, despite them being premier destinations for r&d across all aspects of the industry. it's impossible to have an end-end solution in isolation..the industry is highly globalized from raw materials to design to manufacturing to packaging to testing and sales. that being said, i share your skepticism about the bureaucracy ineptitude being a bottleneck in the push to manufacture in india succeeding in any sustainable manner.

@@Mrt00dles it was just an example, how semiconductor industry needs huge investment in research as India is aiming to achieve"Atmanirbharta" in semiconductor manufacturing. Yes, semiconductor manufacturing is resource intensive. World is moving towards EUV because of its obvious advantages. If India would still want to use older gen tech then there is no point of having semiconductor manufacturing units. That technology would be obsolete in few years. If India is betting money on it, then it should put on next gen tech. FYI Intel is building transistors which works on light. India is light years behind rest of the world in research.

Aviation Reforms would be required to make this sector profitable & stop airlines from shutting down. For eg. Operational Costs of operating Airlines in India is the highest in the world thanks to our huge taxes inposed on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF). It needs to be included under GST. This will significantly help lower down the costs of operations for airlines making it profitable for them to enter the market to compete with Domestic airlines as well. Another radical reforms which might not happen anytime soon but could make this business profitable would be for DCGA to stop dictating prices & let the markets decide. Since India is still in the lower middle income bracket, I don't expect it to happen anytime soon. India could focus on becoming the Leasing Aircrafts Hub & Regional MRO Hub for South & South East Asia provided it makes it easier for Global airline companies & Aircraft Manufacturing companies to enter the market. Regional MRO Hubs would help us attract spares & components manufacturing companies to India which would help generate a sizable amount of jobs. This is one of the high-tech manufacturing sectors which Govt. should certainly focus upon.

Unfortunately the pivot of this Government was to reduce corporate tax and manage the shortfall with fuel tax and excise. The idea was to give corporates boost and increase employment. But it was not matched with other prudent economic policies boosting growth, So corporations increased profits and did not pass on the benefit in terms of generating jobs as expected. So we are triple f****d in terms of paying more taxes, inflation and having no jobs.

I remember reading in a newspaper named Daily Guardian mentioning that the Jet Airways under the Kalrock- Jalan consortium is a front for the infamous Gupta Brothers of South Africa. In fact a digital news portal in South Africa named Amabughane had published about it on their website.

S G , me ex IAF pilot , did some corporate flying . Finance not my forte but I find it interesting. I think N Goyal purposely sunk the company for whatever reasons . SAHARA Airlines Limited, now know as JET LITE (INDIA) LIMITED oR JETLITE after it was acquired by JET AIRWAYS (INDIA) LIMITED on 07th April, 2007 and it still exists. The last flight of Jet Airways 1.0 from Amritsar to Mumbai, before being "Temporarily" grounded on 17th April, 2019 was OPERATED by an AIRCRAFT belonging to JETLITE only. Since Jet Airways is non functional for now, which is why the fate of JetLite hangs in balance. Let's see, which way it goes in due course of time. However, it would be definitely WRONG to say that, SAHARA Airlines has closed down, because SAHARA AIRLINES was RENAMED as JETLITE.

However, yet again, the entire piece is what anyone could have put together in half an hour using Google search. Why not talk to an airline business specialist? Or dig up a few clues on what the real story might be using contacts? Shockingly poor.
