I had lived in Jamshedpur, a city built by Tatas. You can only wonder and respect what Tatas have created. I felt sad since morning after hearing the news of his demise, this loss is personal… Om Shanti 🎉

Did I gain something from Tata `No` but indirectly he helped everyone in many ways by helping Indias growth and he is not like any other businessmen who run after money and billboards. He touched the lives of many, everyone will mourn for him, or else he is not a true Indian at all.

Sir Ratan Tata was not just another business leader. He was head and shoulders above the rest because he came accross as a person of integrity, a man who was the flag bearer of a value system that became synonymous with the Tata name. He was seen as not just another business honcho, but as a nation builder. And that is why his loss seems so personal to so many of his fellow countrymen.

Ratan Tata was a Parsi - no other community has done so much for India. As they gradually trend towards extinction, we should ask ourselves, what could we as Indians have done differently to protect these precious members of society?

Ratan Tatasb. was a man without parallel. Epitome of humility, humbleness and simplicity. Set new never heard of bench mark of ethical standards of doing business by setting the acid test in the eyes and minds of the counter parties. I Had opportunity to meet and interact with the rooted to ground inspiring personality with an unexplainable halo and towering yet kind and empathic presense in many dealer meets which he would religiously attend to host a dinner for dealers and made it a point to interact with all, staying with the fraternity all the evening and addressing it in his typical laid back inimitable style, sharing his experiences and wisdom and taking a question answer session with elan and sometimes with a touch of humour and a naughty twinkle in his eyes when a dealer brother would pose an awkward question. His presence of mind and his repartee was remarkable and so was the band width of his knowledge and his ability to explain complex subjects in simple easy to understand ways. I can never forget a lunch hosted by him at Lake House Pune when he intermingled informally with every one during buffet like a host to his immidiate family members. I have always missed in dealer meets his towering yet benign presence and that half smile always adorning his face after his retirement from active business. Passanger cars were his passion and it's dealers near to his heart, so much so that the final vetting and approval of first set of dealers was done in his office. If I look back at my twenty five years with TML, the most invaluable earning has been the chance to see, feel the noble souls hand shake and his soothing presence. He was a hermit in a businessman's garb. Attached yet detached. Firm and fair. Un compromising on core principals yet flexible. Prepared to take a challenge and see it through. A visionary and nationalist and philanthropist without compare. Heart feel heavy and sad on the passing away of the noble soul which will remain immortally etched in the minds of all who knew him. Words are not enough to pay homage to him. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Thank you so much for sharing this insightful story. I’d just add that he was not just committed to human beings, but animals too. I don’t know whether it’s because of algorithms but a lot of the tributes I see on social media (non business journalists) mention this. I do hope this talk is transcribed and printed too.

Tata group's superpower stemmed from the values they espoused: honesty, integrity, benevolence, and inclusivity. Their brand of capitalism is motivated by something greater than profit; they see commerce and idustry as tools of social uplift and development. Mr. Tata nurtured those precepts in a manner appropriate to our times. Thanx for everything, Ratansha, rest in peace.🙏🏽🙏🏽🌟🍀

Mr.Vir Singhvi ...we must remember that during J.R.D's tenure the Tata group was only 5-9 enterprises & $5.09 billion. JRD wanted India to be a happy nation. As correctly stated Russi mody was a Maverick. J.J.Irani was too serious & lacked employee empathy. During JRD Tata...Tata sons was in the backseat...while Russi etc were running personal realms and fiefdoms.Ratan scaled all odds vs. this"Cartel"...rest is history...Tata sons is a shining emblem of humanity....RIP Ratan.🎉
