Mumbai has always been cosmopolitan. Pune has now become cosmopolitan. The hinterlands of Maha are distinct in their own ways. For, e.g., Konkan and Vidarbha are very different cultures. Nice episode with a difference, good edutainment wrt Balasaheb. Most Marathis know that calling everyone 'yadzav' was his favourite lingo and he cared 2 hoots whether he was in presence of women or at a public function. Btw, the nearest Hindi equivalent is ch...tya, or paagal c...tya. (Bengali has perfect equivalent - 'boca-cho....a'.) Be that as it may, ,that was a nice nostalgic episode and good that explanation on the judgement was not given as it would be nauseating, with so many channels spouting that. It however would have been better if next steps in terms of challenging today's verdict in SC, how much time will it take, whether the issue of the SC ruling turning infructiious owing to GE2024, the overall strategy of BJP/Shinde faction etc was thrown light upon. Uddhav capturing "sympathy" votes is a folly assumption. Our "political pundits" were similarly sure of a sympathy wave for Kamalnath in MP. Maharashtra voters are MLA-centric. Despite his insane popularity, Balasaheb captured power only once in his lifetime. Even during his time, the understanding was that the BJP would be the "Big Brother" for Lok Sabha. UBT faction or even the larger INDIA bloc won't be a threat to BJP's Lok Sabha "ashwamedh" in Maha.

You are underestimating fact that shivsena is not like any other party. It's party of hardcore shivsainiks who are loyal like anything to Thackeray & Matoshri. Plus Thackeray enjoys widespread support in public which we see through his rallies across Maharshtra. And BJP here is struggling. Even when they have taken Ajit pawar, still they are nowhere near 2019 level expected seats acc to surveys.( Their postponing of various elections shows their frustration). Also shinde despite massive state agency support, CM post, party name & symbol is struggling & lacks legitimacy in wide populace. Only Indian politicians who genuinely never cared about the caste of their MLA/MP/local politicians. He will select the most visible & street action-oriented Hindutva-Marathi face from the constituency without any caste appropriateness concerns. That gave many non-Maratha politicians a huge window of opportunity. Today's many non-Maratha biggis in Maharashtra are his protegees. How can either Uddav ji or Eknath ji be true successor's to Bala Saheb ji ? . Bala Saheb Takrey was King maker, ppl go to his house and his chatra chaya for blessings and favours, power etc. Both of these 2 go to Pawar and Modi/Shah umbrella for favors/power etc, so both cannot be true inheritors or successors of his Legacy. Only Raj can come near in every aspect, uddav wants to be king himself and never wanted to be in his father's foot steps of king maker otherwise he wont have gone to anyone's house. Bala Saheb was Ring Master/Puppeter who can control others. When one becomes Tiger himself or Puppet you get controlled by others (Ring Master or Puppeter)

Shivsena is party of hardcore supporters of Thackeray. The name & party symbol never mattered neither it will matter in future. Thackeray will 100% rise like a phoenix. We see that despite massive state agency support, CM post, party name & symbol, Shinde is still struggling & lacks legitimacy in wide populace. As a voter from Maharashtra & from voters I see, I have no doubt BJP will recieve massive setback bcz of Shinde.

Balsaheb was truly a character of his time & did lots of good work for Mumbai. Now I have not found any analysis why it was only his party which has suffered repeated splits. From Bhujbal rebellion to Shinde, the splits have been regular & repeated. In fact few of the powerful ministers in INC+NCP regime for 15 years were from his party. Be it Bhujbal, Rane, Ganesh Naik, Harshvardhan Patil etc. Why? SS gave 4 CMs to MAH. 1 has retired due to old age, 1 went away & is now something similar to Late AJIT SINGH of UP & 1 is ruling currently. The only one left is his own SON. May be all these people realized with Balasaheb you can only reach this much for next level move on. May be the agenda of his party is limited & with his successive followers have utilized his legacy & threw it away when done. Think why did only SS had such multiple splits?
