RIP Keith Flint. The Prodigy influenced and shaped electronic & dance music around the world, especially in the 90s. There was no one hotter. Ugly yet beautiful, raw, aggressive, just freaking great music. Their music brings so many awesome memories from my crazy teen age. My heart is broken.

You mean back when they were squatting in a warehouse and you had to have the right info to find out where it was? When the party could end any second because it was found out and shut down? When the musicians did it, risking all their gear just to share their talent? That was fun.

STILL blasting this in 2023! I started listening to Prodigy during the Bosnian war in 1992 as a teenager, and here is a little Prodigy related anecdote from the war later on, in 1993... During the siege of Sarajevo I lived right at the front lines, and late at night, Serbian soldiers would sing their old folk and "Chetnik" songs driving us nuts, so we went around for days collecting car batteries from damaged cars, speakers and sound systems from destroyed cars and apartments, and we put together a loud system with multiple speakers in 4 different apartments in a destroyed building (in the part of Sarajevo we called "Little Hiroshima" due to the scale of destruction). The only albums we had were Prodigy's Experience, Metallica by Metallica, Guns N Roses' Use Your Illusion, and a couple of Yugo rock albums. So when they start singing that caveman stuff, we would blast Prodigy's Experience as loud as possible, shutting them up. 😊 Unfortunately, car batteries get drained quickly, so we had a badly damaged Opel hatchback with a solid little engine that we started whenever we had some fuel to burn (we used oil from old machines too) just to charge the batteries. Been blasting it ever since! 💪 RIP Keith

Saw this on BBC 1 Top Of The Pops when aged 11 just before my 12th birthday, this lead me down the AMAZING path of hardcore music played all over the London FM dial - Pulse 90.6 / Rush 92.3 / Format 93.2 / Kool 94.5 just to name a few. Now my son is now aged 11 a few months before his 12th, very weird to think in this modern day n age how a child could be hooked to underground dance music using mum n dads rotary phone calling up pirate stations for the track title, to then buy the vinyls down the local shop (shout to Record Village and Cavern Records in Walthamstow East London) - to play on a singlur turntable. The start of an amazing journey with as much love now as it was back in the day.

@@ruthycantfailhe way music changed from 1977 to 1991 hasn't been seen before or since. Technology leapt miles over that time. Music videos were invented. Some of the greatest rock and pop musicians of all time. Live Aid. 24 hour raves arrived 1988 onwards for the first time. Punk to Rave, so much expression. Since 2001 practically nothing has changed. Not easy to make the next music technology leap happen like this, so we don't see a repeat era like this.

@@ruthycantfail sure. In a future decade. Let's see. The 60s to 90s had a massive pop music scene that caught the generations after World War 2. The great cultural opening that was available for millions of people for the first ever time. Synth music, electric guitar, reggae, ska, house, rock, all available for the first time. Mind blowing. Let's see another generation, en masse, get something new, that brings them to life.

OMG not Keith 😪 I used to dance to the Prodigy back in the 90s in London clubs/raves especially "Charly" and the whole room would have 100+ teens sweating with all the rave hand gestures. I don't know him personally but his music was certainly a huge part of my teens.I will now find a Prodigy playlist and dance in remembrance to Keith. This world has lost a special person in Keith RIP and if there is a heaven I do hope all will be entertained by him xxxxx

I turned 40 last week, so these guys were with me from school till now. Seen them 4 times over a 20 year period & absolutely gutted. Nothing will beat the Jilted Generation album, although Fat of Land comes close. Currently off work due to mental health issues (prob due to too many pills in the 90s) & Sat just gone was my worst night for months, I was at a tipping point & it blows my mind that Keith was in an even worse place & took the next step. Emily Eavis says they were booked to play Glasto this year. Gutted. RIP our little "firestarter".
