Bret Hart was a filmmaker who wrestled. He was always sculpting his legacy and working to tell a much larger story. Bret had a vision of the story he wanted his career as wrestler to represent. I agree. When Raw first came out in 1993, I didn't even want to leave the set for commercial breaks, especially if Bret was scheduled to appear. I also went to a few live Raw shows and PPVs while he was actively wrestling, sometimes out of state. Now I have no desire to attend ANY live WWE, even if it's in my own backyard. A guy that, Bret just stayed quiet n paid his dues , went along with everything just so he could SHARE THE RING and learn from this guy... Bret, however proud he is of his carer n his background wiv his dad n stampede wrestling which literally, like Floyd Mayweather was modelled n groomed to be a wrestler from the womb, He was learning nearly everything from the age of EIGHTEEN, n saw it n learnt it all from a young age.. But there was another guy out there from across the sea in England, who was EVEN MORE talented.. and learnt shoot wrestling, gymlastics , japanese style, highflying, innovating stuff NEVER seen or attempted b4, rolls, flips the lot, and this was from SIXTEEN!! Yes Bret was a GOOD wrestler at 18 20..he became a GREAT wrestler at around 24. The dynamite Kid already was a GREAT wrestler at 18-19, he was the best, Bret knows it n has NEVER denied it. Orchestrating great matches proving how great a story teller he is to wrestling. If you haven’t seen Greg’s interviews, drop his name in the search field. Both these guys make you feel as if you’re on the voyage with them from 1980s through today. @josephdelledonne20986 жыл бұрын
Davey Boy Smith was a huge guy that wasn't particularly ripped, kind of like Hogan. I can't watch The Wembley match despite how great it was; it's because to me Davey looked terrible, he had a huge gut. I remember I was actually big on Davey because of his size and power at the time, but looking back, as I mentioned, he looked terrible in 92. I remember he was in the ring with Bret once during an interview and my grandfather says that Bulldog looks like a fat pig! He looked better in 94 and 95, but he was just too big for his body. Those chemicals are no good. Vince still pushed him time and time again, and he main evented IYH shows with Bret and Shawn. He even main evented a show with Diesel. His IYH match with Bret was his best ever imo, even better than the Wembley one. He was in The Cornette Stable with Owen, Vader, Yoko, at times. He was pushed more than Owen was, and it seems they valued him a little more, so I guess those chemicals helped because if it wasn't for that, he wouldn't have gotten that push. He never got the belt though. I think the problem with him is no matter how hard they tried, he lacked charisma which is the single most important thing in wrestling. That's why fat guys like Dusty gets pushed and guys like Warlord don't. Furthermore, like you all also stated, he was terrible on the mic. He just sounded dumb, I remember one time with his accent he tried sounding like Stone Cold during his last run by saying he was going to stomp a mudhole in someone. Also, he had too many substance abuse issues. I wanted him to get the belt, but he would have been a terrible WWF Champ, he would have drawn worse than Diesel. In the states anyways where most of the business was done. His work was an issue to. He was big and could do acrobatic stuff here and there, and he was believable as a power wrestler. He had the great matches with Bret and Owen to. Now here's the but, despite everything, he couldn't have a great match with everyone. I didn't think his match with Diesel that everyone crumbs on was that bad, but the problem was it was nothing special. Davey had to be a worker because he didn't have the charisma of Hulk, the size of Diesel, and the fans were getting sick of seeing the one dimensional huge guys put on crappy matches anyways. They wanted more. Davey was great when he was in with someone great, but if he's asked to carry a match, he couldn't do it.

I think Eric made the list.

Bret and Bischoff both are great. They at least had vision of what the business should be like. Now no one has a fucking clue. It's a chore to watch 2014-2018 WWE. The problems started way earlier but before 2014 there were at least some saving graces. You need to understand that these Stampede / Amateur wrestlers like Bret Hart, Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar, Eddie Guerrero, Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, William Regal, Christian, Edge and Owen Hart never got to the ring to just do their job. They gave it their all every night, regardless of their status.

Yeah, Bret and Eric are no sweethearts to each other.

Any time I see Bret do an interview I feel like he's doing a promo. Absolutely savage. If his mic skills were as good as they are now in his WWE days he'd have been even better than he was.

I don't know why Bret don't rate the Wrestlemania 12 Iron Man Match so highly as it deserved to be and in fact do recognized as one of the best ever matches in modern Era of pro-wrestling? On Eric Bischoff's issue it still perplexed me that a guy who is still credited with the innovations of Live Monday Night Nitro, borrowing and adding new dimension to the anti-establishment faction NWO, to create a heel of probably the greatest crowd puller of all time in 1996, creating story lines based on reality based characters and to top it off, he was the one who quite possibly came ever close to putting the spanner in the juggernaut of pro-wrestling promotion, WWE back in the day, was so ineffective or helpless to utilise the enormous talent like Bret Hart and others in WCW. Was Eric really in charge of booking the matches in late 1990's or were he delegated that responsibility on his blue-eyed minions like Kevin Nash? That would be a point worth for a research and debate.

That match with British Bulldog was the main event at Summerslam 92 for the IC championship. Best match of all time!! I saw it live on pay per view. I thought Davey was in the hall of fame.

The fact that WWF made a bigger story out of Bret going to WCW than WCW did tells you everything you need to know.

Bret Hart is now 61 years old. Where has the time gone? He is still the man. Not only did he have such an amazing look, he also slept with Sunny in her prime. That should be considered an achievement.

2682shark Nice try. Would you not talk about your career but others instead? His HOF speech was 90% on others and 10% on himself. Bret is a straight shooter and always says it as it is.

Of course he starts the answer off with how he can do things better than someone else. He's always been as full of himself as any of the other wrestlers. How many of Bret's storylines were that memorable or exciting?
