Great video, a joy to watch and hear ... I love the version you mention on harvey mandels 'cristo redentor' album, but this version is closer to the version played by harvey mandel and charlie musselwhite's south side band on their 1965 album 'stand back'. Just for the record the song was written by jazz pianist Duke Pearson (early 60's i think)... all that aside this video made my day, loved Canned Heat since a kid, thank you!!!

Their concert in Imatra about 2002-2003 was the best concert i ever saw in my life. For one and half our i had been chilled, electrified and natural high. One of the best experiences in my life.

I recognize original Canned Heat bassist 'Larry the mole Taylor', but is that the original guitarist Henry Vestine, before Harvey Mandel took over when Henry quit ?

Yeah, this is TOTALLY NOT " Harvey Mandels song" but that is an honest mistake. The original version of this classic jazz song is by the Late, great trumpet player Donald Byrd from the Bluenote album-" A New Perspective", a really great ,classic album..WELL worth seeking out. Thanks

@@elliotharris9056 You're right about the original, but Canned Heat fans know this song from Harvey Mandel's performance. Regardless of animosities, a great song permanently included in Canned Heat's repertoire at that time

Yes,and there is no animosity on our part..just pointing something out about this great tune and yes the fact that a white rock/ blues band COVERS such a great song is good for ALL of us and I'm pretty sure there are a LOT of Canned Heat fans and rock fans,of which I am one,who are not as informed as you are, just trying to give some factual info about the song and as usual...DON'T FORGET TO BOOGIE!!!

@@jimholland6347 me too, but after Mandel's return to Canned Heat in 2009, CH made these songs a permanent part of their repertoire
