For me as far as fan made games goes before SOR4 came out, they had "SOR Remake" for the PC. It included every character in the series, plus more. Some of the artwork and music were re-done or re-mixed. It was the ultimate SOR game at the time until, of course, they finally came out with SOR4. And what's amazing of all is that it was done by just one person. He had been updating the game for almost a decade until SEGA had to restrict him 😣

I had that but on PlayStation2 (modded since day one). Plenty of great ports or "ultimate versions" , hacks, mods etc back then, PC gaming was lacking unlike today so those PS2 "underground" releases were amazing. However love to see this homebrew scene still alive and kicking even today.

Yeah, they're worth it . If a person owns an Everdrive Cartridge , personally owning SoR 2 Hacks may not be worth it , there over saturated , hopefully someone just puts all Ro2 hacks on a multi-cart

I remember there being silver or gold edition Nintendo cartridges but to see that yellow for the first or, that turtle green cartridge, for the first time ever like 🆒 thank you. I game on ps5 & fully digital due to my own preferences of why its necessary but what I have witnessed Today was a treat & worth a subscription congrats, "New Sub Here."🖐️ & not much else to say besides take care, see you in the next🕹️

Heck yeah love seeing people still make these things even today. My most favorite is the PS2 era, not only games were cheaper and better made in sense of you actually got content that is yours to keep from day one, no online locking BS etc. ANYWAY I digress so back then there was plenty of homebrew ports of classics and mods too. My favorites were beat-em ups and platformers, basically there were releases on one DVD you could get almost all the classics from Sega and Nintendo consoles on top of that modded games too. There is this nonsense talk nowadays how magically it was a nightmare to make games for PS2 and PS3 ... YET there we were swimming in games, porting games left and right for these systems like WTF are these people even talking about, basically PS2 era was the pinacle of actual gaming, modding and running any format you could think of on a modded PS2. Heck PS2 was my 1st PC. It was the ultimate home system you could get and was cheap too. Sure there was a big homebrew scene back in 90s too however PS2 era and that platform blew every others away and was the 1st system that actually created gamers and created the mass market for gaming. Before that it was rather taboo to talk about games or be a gamer.

i like pokemon and mario hacks. my favorite ones are a hack of super mario world where everything has super mario bros 3 sprites, and somari where you play through sonic levels as mario. i like the pokemon red chapter hack too, it's a hack based on the manga with red.

I have played lots of times SMB 3 mix, Newer SMBW and Mario's Final Adventure Wii. The last 2 are hacks of NSMBW and are fantastic. Also MFAW can be considered a hack of Newer SMBW becuase it uses things created for Newer SMBW.

I'm not a big fan of fan made games. I'm not saying that they are bad. What I'm saying is that the people who make them are wasting their talents on someone else's game. Shredder's Re-revenge is Streets of Rage. So that person just made a game that was already made and played by many people. He could have used his time and talents to make his own game. Come up with his own characters, his own story. A game that was his. But no, he wanted to waste his skills on a game that was already played. Waste his talents on someone else's game. Some may say that it was a passion project. But still his passion could of been used on some that was his own ideas. Something he would have been more passionate about. With that said, I too, will be playing Streets of Rage too.

That would've have been possible back then due to the how crunched development for Mario 3 was and the fact that they were preparing for the Snes

@TonyJenn yeah I mean different worlds, playing with different characters, You have 3 save files, collect star coins, etc. This game is pretty much like New Super Mario Bros. Wii, but on the older system, a game will break the hardware limitation back then. I don't think why it's not gonna be a crazy success in 1989 and 1990.
