I love watching her pantry tours. Some people freak out but they do not take into consideration that she shops all at once for a whole year to meet her needs. People need to take just one meal they make a lot and do the math on how to make it for the whole year. Then, they would freak out and then settle down and look more objectively at shopping like she does.
@vallis14693 жыл бұрын
@@tdewtx Absolutely right. Hubby and I were just chatting about how many jars of food we use, typically, for one meal? Then we were adding up just two meals a day, times 365 days, how many jars/cans/proteins/etc a family uses. It's absolutely astonishing when you think of it that way. Proteins alone would be 365 x 2. That's a lot of jars! Pantries are back in style these days. It's a fun and creative insurance policy! xoxo

Shelby, you’re a woman after mine own heart. When you said you’re having an Indian Summer right now it reminded me that you used to live here in SoCal. We would play outside barefoot and in shorts while it rained hard because it was still 90° out. My mom would comment that we’re having an Indian Summer, it was back in the early 60’s. Oh the good old days. Your pantry, et al, is amazing. Organization is your calling and you can tell you’re in heaven and in your element. I’m a little jealous. Much love to you and yours.

Your pantry is great. I was almost going to say "where is the cookie butter?" But you snuck it in there at the end. 🤣 Your basement shelves are interesting because I have the same ones but they are not for an earthquake zone. Mine don't have those extra bars across the shelves. Did you bring them from CA? Since you have your heated greenhouse you should overwinter your pepper plants. A 2 year old pepper plant is very productive and gets very large. Just dig them up. Cut them back and keep them alive. Plant out again. I am zone 4 and peppers are hard because of our short season. So I overwinter my one. I have had them last 4 years. I also get peppers in June. I think that may help with your production issue. Can't wait for the other videos.

I loved watching this. Your stockpile is so amazing and varied. I like to can all my apples sliced and in light syrup. It is so versatile if I want applesauce I just puree it, if I want pie filling I can thicken it and add spices. Some years I get a ton of apples, one year I canned 300 jars but then the next year we had a late frost and I got zero apples, so we ate them up in those two years. We normally just put them on our yogurt.

I love seeing your stock and how you organize it. I love.having things on hand when I want it. My problem is I really do not like to cook. It has never been enjoyable to me. I do not want to spend an hour in the kitchen then meal time is over in 5 minutes. Now I've been single for over 20 years so if I cook I eat it for 3-4 days ugh. When my children were young I did all the salad, yellow/orange and green vegetables and.protein thing. Then when they were in high school they would eat at friends house because I worked 12 hour shifts at the hospital and they were just gone a lot. So I quit cooking. We always had plenty of food in the house if they wanted anything. Sometimes my daughter and her boyfriend would grill and I would fix the food to go with it. I buy they cook. I have 2 freezers full of food right now..I tell my kids they can shop my house if they need it. They know I will always have food on hand.

Wow what a pantry. Great ideas for using your items in your pantry. So far this year I've made cucumber relish, zucchini & cucumber relish, salsa, pasta sauce which I used my hand mixer making a thin sauce, But needed to add 2 cans of canned tomato paste too. A thick spaghetti sauce, canned red onions, canned pearl onions, a mixed vegetable pickle which made with cauliflower, broccoli, But up carrots, & pearl onions, I also make it with either cut up cucumbers, or zucchini too. Canned peaches, spices plums, made 2 different kinds of marmalade, one is made with navel oranges, Mandarin oranges, & Clementine oranges; The other one was made with the same 3 kinds of oranges, But I added blood oranges, lemon juices, peeling from both orange peels, lemon peels too. Both are delicious. I also made Harvard beets. Last year I canned pickled beets, Dill pickles, bread & butter pickles, pickled peppers, & pickled peppers with sliced onions. I want to dehydrate oranges, Navel, Mandarin, Clementine, peaches, plums, lemons, try Apple's too.
