I’m binge watching all your videos as I have been ill and you give me so much pleasure while I rest. Thank you so much. I know this video is older but you asked for suggestions for compound butter. I make one with a Korean pepper sauce called gochujang. Most major groceries carry it now in their ethnic foods department or Asian foods. It comes in a red plastice container usually. It makes an amazing butter. I put about 2 parts butter to 1 part gochujang and just mash it together with a fork. This works wonderully on roasted chicken and vegetables as well as fish. I haven’t used it on beef. If you have some of the sauce left after making the butter you can put it in soup, meatloaf, almost anywhere. You like a lot of the same foods we do and I think you will like this too. Thank you for all the videos!

These two are my favorites: Cinnamon Maple Butter 1 stick unsalted butter 1-2 tablespoon pure maple syrup ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon Super good on toast, sweet potatoes, waffles and pancakes! Orange Honey Butter 1 stick unsalted butter 1-2 tablespoon honey 2 teaspoons finely grated orange zest Excellent on biscuits!

Rutabagas..... the terror of my southern childhood LOL !!! With the twang they were called Ruddabeggars.... and oh how I hated those things. Turnip roots went in the pot with the turnip greens and you soaked up the juice ( pot liquor) with cornbread. Cooked down slow and long and sprinkled with hot pepper sauce ( peppers in vinegar). A little sugar was added to the pot of greens to offset the bitterness. So good.

Go light on the rutabaga and turnip and parsnip in your stew until you know you like those flavors. The rutabaga is a bit strong in flavor but will hold it's shape like the potato will. The turnip will turn to mush - you may prefer the turnip raw in salad - kinda like a big radish. And the parsnip is a little strong too. My mom LOVED parsnips but I'm not a fan. I do like them roasted with carrots and potatoes though - they have lot of sugar in them. Glad you like the chard - try it cooked like spinach - sauteed with garlic. Have fun with the new vegies.

@TheQueensCabinet7 жыл бұрын
Becky W Hi Becky we are a household of ten and having a meal plan helps so much. I break up meal preparation into small tasks through the day, instead of cooking from beginning to end. For example, tonight we had French toast, sausage patties and berries with maple syrup. This morning I cleaned the berries so all I had to do was add the syrup. This afternoon I made the egg custard for the French toast. Then tonight for dinner it didn't take much to fry the sausage and French toast. :D Shelby

If you see pomegranates, buy those, scope out the seeds (called arils), bag them up and freeze them. Then thaw as needed. They also keep well in the fridge for a few days in a plastic container if you're planning to use them quickly. They're delicious on cereal or oatmeal with yoghurt or in water to flavour it or in breads or salads or smoothies or Middle Eastern stews or casseroles, the list goes on :) They are rich in fibre,vitamins, minerals and bioactive plant compounds, they also contain a little sugar. They're really tasty :)

Don't just stew up your parsnips and turnips. Parsnips in particular are a delicate vegetable and they will taste delicious either as a mash (mix with pumpkin or again on its own) or puree, as a soup (try blending it with zucchini for a soup or on its own with some pepper) and even delicious as chips as per recipe :)Parsnips, turnips or combination, peeled and sliced, as many as you want and you will want a lot!Preheat oven to 450°F. Mix parsnips, chopped rosemary, garlic, and oil on a large rimmed baking sheet lined with baking paper Season with salt and pepper or chilli or turmeric or coriander (cilantro) or whatever you like and toss to coat. ... Roast for 10 minutes; turn parsnips and roast until parsnips are tender and browned in spots, 10-15 minutes longer Take from oven and eat! Will also work with sweet potatoes, or plain potatoes too, basically any root vegetable :)

This is so weird. The last few videos - all I see is a black screen and hear the audio.

Did you get my message? Your package will be there tomorrow, supposedly! You know the post office. Take care....I'll take one of those sandwiches...YUMMY!! Turnips/parsnips I adore those! Growing up in Kansas we ate plenty of them! I make a cranberry/orange bread that is to die for. I just might send the recipe to you! :)
